New Faces.

Okay, so if MA was to open his wallet and give Pards enough cash to bring three new faces in, who would you choose from all the names that have been mentioned and how much do you think we'd realistically need to get them for?

 

Remy - 10m
Debuchy - 4-5m
Douglas - 5-6m

Those 3 signings would make me a lot more comfortable in the second half of the season. If we get these three, or similair in early in Jan, then I have a feeling that come Feburary when Benny and Yohan will be back and up to speed again, as well as Chieck's return from Africa we will come good and cement a solid mid-table finish somewhere between 8th and 12th, something I think we would all happily take right now!

 

Agree with these, although remember no matter what happens we'll be holders of the Intertoto Cup come the end of the season!

 

Don't really know who I'd prefer but to me without any outgoings we desperately need

Moving Santon to the right, although I liked Debuchy in the Euros, I think Santon is just as good and is better utilised on the right.

 

Good call. I'd agree with those if Ba went. If he doesn't, include Diame or Sissoko.

 

LW-AM-CF: Sebastian Rajalakso... Anywhere between £5 and a milky-way to £48 million. Possibly one of the finest players from Sweden ever (/potentially average/maybe utter guff... It's a 1 in 3 chance, I say that's good odds)
Failing that, I'd take N'Zogbia back (£6 million - £8 million) .

CD Bassong (although we haven't been linked with him except hypothetically on here... by me). £10-15 million

Wing back Debuchy £7-9 million
Jethro Willems if not. Sounds good

Got to say I love Diame, but surely the time to get him has come and gone? West Ham give players more than we do apparently, so I doubt we'll be signing him. Sissoko is a possibility, but I think he may end up at Chelsea and we may keep Tiote. Tiote loves it here by all accounts, and while HDQ has said he has not renewed his home rental, i expect him to lay down permanent foundations here and be a lot more settled, hopefully playing better!

Two players I would love though, so good picks in my opinion

 

I'd willingly chip in with £5 and a milky-way. More chance of getting Jethro Tull than Willems.

 

Douglas wont cost 5-6m. He's out of contract in Summer, and prices around 4m were quoted last summer.

2-3m or maybe 4 at the most.

Debuchy isn't coming until Summer if he ever does come.

Remy would be immense, but it seems like a bit of a dream.

 

Major investment like that must be worthy of AB@StJames'Park, or massive letters on the shirt somewhere?

This is why I think it's harsh people jumping on Ashley's back just yet. January can be a horrible time to sign players, but it can also be a good time too! Players are closing in on the end of contracts, so there might be a bargain or two to be had that couldn't be done in the summer.

Also think the club wanted at least 2 major players brought in, De Jong and Debuchy. Failing to get those two must mean there is a bit of cash left, unless Anita took out a chunk.

 

Anita is supposed to have cost £6.7 million.

 

What was bought as? A Full-back? A DM? If it's the former, then I suppose that's £6.7 million out of whatever budget we had, but if it's a DM, we must surely still have funds for 2 good players?

Can't tell if we fell back on Vernun because Mathieu's deal fell through, or if he was a distinct transfer. I doubt he'll be playing much at RB anyway.

If you guys are thinking we'd stump up the likes of 10m for Remy, 6mil for Douglas/ Debuchy, then you guys haven't been following the club at all.

Notoriously miserly club we are, If Debuchy were available for 5 or 6, why wouldn't we have had him the previous window? MA and co. are stuck up and refuse to cough up!

I'm totally not optimistic we'll even bring in enough reinforcements at all. Willo obviously isn't the answer, and we need a new CB, I don't even think we are that likely to get one in. Simmo isn't the answer at RB as well, and again I have no confidence in the club bringing anyone in there.

To be honest, I'm thinking we'll bring a loan or two in on the cheap and that's it. The usual excuses come out again, Raylor will be like a new signing, they'll draft Ranger in upfront, January signings are more expensive etc etc. Until the board show me that they would spend high, I'm not impressed.

 

I just read on some websites that rumours are Newcastle have agreed a 10m Euros deal for Remy. Not sure how true this is...

Can anyone check what Cwarr07 has on this? If he says that we have a deal then obviously we know that it's all bollocks....
