Just got into Game of Thrones, yeah l know it's been going for a while, but somehow it just bypassed me.
Am totally addicted to it, have always loved Lord of the Rings, Clash of the Titans and Sparticus type fantasy, so how l did not fall upon this series sooner l will never know.
Best thing about coming late to this party, is that l have episodes galor to catch up on. Yippee !
Who knows Santa may bring me the box set, now let me think, have l been a good girl ? Hum mm

I'm not watching many current TV shows.

Shows that I watch are -

South Park, Family Guy, sometimes American Dad.

When they were on, I used to watch -

    Rome
    Spartacus
    The Tudors.

I've got them all on DVD.

Oh yes, very typical Geordie lass, red hair, green eyes and a few freckles. Hated my hair when l was little, all the carrot top stuff etc. Only really grew to appreciate it as l got older, guess you could say that about a lot of things in life, lol

Tried to watch it but l couldn't stand it. Guess it's just as well, that we are all different and like different things.

Forgot to mention all things "Lewis", apparently a new series is coming, but then that will be the last. Kevin Whately feels that he is getting too old to play Lewis, shame if true cos l just love him, oh and Hathaways not bad either!

Homeland (got to disagree though, I thought the first series was fantastic and the second series got gradually more ridiculous. Now hope they don't try and squeeze a third series out)
Boardwalk Empire (first two series were fantastic TV, third series not as good and a number of 'pointless' characters. Probably not watch the 4th series)
Newsroom (Best series I've seen this year. I used to work with journalists and generally found them alright if untrustworthy (which given the way popular journo's usually portray lawyers was frustrating), the morality of the storylines was unrealistic and it felt like it was a journalists ideal views on what a newsroom should be doign rather than an attempt at realism).
Elementary, Mentalist (murder mystery wins in our house)

That's about it, I only really watch about 30 mins to an hour of tv a day. Busy job, young child and pregnant wife when I'm not working/cooking/cleaning/writing crap on not606 then I'm usually asleep!

ps. We also watched the series Hunted and it was 'ok' but I wouldn't recommend it if you missed it. A poor mans Spooks.

My sister is a big fan of 'Lewis', I couldn't stand KW in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, seemed very much like the character he was playing, too much of a wimp. Was a bit surprised he got the part of Lewis because of his wimpishness, but quite liked the series.

Having worked on the editing room of national television I can say there are a lot of familiarities between there and in the series. For example, the series show screens running I-news software, which has white, yellow and red news updates. Yellow means flagged news, red means.. well you get the idea.
But besides that there are other similarities like the morning meetings, ethics discussions and legality issues. They are handled pretty much the same as in the series.

And that's pretty much it, the first five episodes were pretty good, and pretty realistic at times. But after that it went downhill and the second half was complete rubbish to be frank. And HBO knew it too because they fired the writers last summer. Too much drama and all of a sudden every journalist/editor on the floor with an in-depth character needs to sleep with a colleague, which rarely happens in journalism.
