Argh, buses take bloody ages. What I usually do is go from Highgate down to Kentish Town on the Northern Line, and then go on the Overground from there down to Shepherds Bush, so from what I read on the previous posts I couldn't do that?

Just got a travel update from TfL, there will be a reduced service on Boxing Day but NO service on London Overgound. This is aside from the tube strike and will be updated if the strike is confirmed as on. So my plan for Boxing Day was f*cked strike or not...

Mine was too, the only option was a 3 hour journey on a coach each way and then a tube if they were running so I sold my tickets as its just not worth the hassle and probably about 10 hours travelling to do 160 miles.

Anyone know if this is definitely on?
I'm collecting my two lads from the ex-mother-in-law's on Boxing Day from West Hampstead and I was planning on getting to the ground by tube. Will be a nightmare to drive and try to park!!

Superhoop - I have just had a look at this and as you are coming from the same kind of direction as me it might be useful. If you get a Southern train to Victoria there is a 148 bus that goes from there to White City via the Green.

Col, Oxfordshire to Hampstead to Shepherds Bush sounds a challenge. Just from Warwickshire to the Bush I'm going to add 30 minutes extra parking time, and that's nearly all straight down the M40/A40, no wandering through north London. Good luck mate.

I have a feeling I will arrive early, Sod's law. Anyone planning to have a Christmas drink anywhere?

Pretty sure there is. If you go on Southern Railways website it says services from the coast up to Victoria calling at East Croydon

Greenford roundabout flyover to close on Christmas Eve

Dec 19 2012 By Poppy Bradbury
Greenford Roundabout

THE Greenford roundabout flyover will close on Christmas Eve for nine days for urgent structural work.

A small section of the Western Avenue A40 above Greenford roundabout at the junction with Greenford Road will be shut from 10pm on Monday (24) and reopen by 5am on Thursday, January 3.

Expansion joints across the bridge will be replaced and resurfacing done around the new joints.

Traffic will be diverted via the roundabout beneath the flyover and a wider diversion will be in place through Greenford for those heading to the A406 North Circular at the Hanger Lane Gyratory.

Transport for London said it chose the quiet festive period to ensure minimal disruptions to traffic and engineers would be ‘working around the clock’ to ensure the essential repairs are finished before thousands of commuters and families pile back on the roads in the new year.

Dana Skelley, director of roads at TfL, said: "Co-ordinating vital repairs so they are carried out in the least disruptive way is a key part of our ongoing work to maintain and invest in hundreds of road structures across London. By planning these essential works to occur during school holidays and when many people choose to stay at home during the Christmas and New Year break, we can minimise the number of road users impacted."

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, Ealing cabinet member for transport, said: "We did object to them doing the work in one phase but they’re saying they need to do it. If it was happening this week it would’ve been absolute chaos but we’re hoping it will be OK next week when the schools are out and most people are off work."

Evil, malicious ****ers. That's two games made much more complicated. Christ knows what the delay there will be.

Quite cross now.

Secret, rarely drink before games nowadays, try to cut it fine so the whole day isn't used up. In the old (very old) days it used to be the Thatched House on Dalling Road or the Anglesea Arms round the corner from it. Horrible feeling they are both gastropubs now. With Northolts news above I have no idea when I'll get to the Bush, but if by some miracle it is early ill join any gathering going on.
