After such a great performance the plaudits are all being lavished on Adel but I'd also like to comment on Stephane Mbia who, in my most humble opinion, had his best game since joining QPR. I think Mbia would be in contention for MOTM along with Adel for his hard work in what looked like an old fashioned sweeper's role. Playing in front of the back four in a diamond shaped midfield looked like a comfortable place for him to be with Faurlin to the front, Mackie to the right and SWP to the left, leaving Adel and Cisse up top in a 4-4-1-1 shape. Nice touch at the end going over to the lower loft to give away his shirt. From where I was it looked as though he'd made an effort to give it to someone in particular rather than throwing it into the crowd. I also have a couple of issues with the BBC coverage on MOTD. Didn't show SWP's fantastic tracking back tackle in the first half and didn't show the repeated fouls by Sidwell who was lucky to get only one yellow. None of his tackles were horror shows but rather they were constant and deliberately done to break up attacking play. One rugby tackle in particular was worthy of a yellow but the ref seemed to be more interested in giving Adel a card for his celebration/time wasting. Such a nice change to go home with a smile on my face, even wider later on when I got the news the Scum lost in Japan!!
Yeh, all played well. But though he did a great defensive job M'bia was guily of some very poor passing particularly the last half of the first half when we went right off the boil. He was not near MOM for me. Luckily for us Fulham hadn't even got luke warm, and there was a period where each side continually gave the ball away to the other.
Adel lost his concentration he delivered that back pass to Green, through Traore's legs, and we almost got caught out.
Yes, Mbia had some great moments and overall was very good but he did make four or five really weird passes.... weird in the sense that they were beyond bad, almost comic.
Hopefully Fulham does not improve for the return fixture at Craven Cottage, and after our drubbing there last season, we turn the tables and get the double over them.
