What an absolute farce and a disgrace! Wiggins is an abled bodied person who has wheels and gears to help him do his job. Mo Farah and the other abled bodied athletes use their legs without the help of any wheels or gears. One of the paralympians should have won.

I'd have some sympathy with you on track cycling, Stamford, but winning the Tour de France is due to considerably more than having a nice bike! Far from a farce and a disgrace, Wiggins has been exceptional and the award is well deserved.

So you would rather see an African win for running around the track a few times rather than Wiggins for becoming the first Brit to win one of the toughest sports in the World.
Mo got what he deserved SWEET FA

To get back to the OP for a minute, I'd like to add my congratulations too. No question that it's utterly deserved IMO, all this implied drug cheat nonsense is totally baseless.
Plus, he grew up a good old west London boy.. Wouldn't be surprised if he were a closet R. <ok>

Hope that's not a serious comment, gta. Mo may not be British born but his heart is British and that's what counts in my book. Any one of a number of our top athletes would have been deserved winners, and Mo Farrah definitely is among them.

Mo Farah! Another good old West London boy (via Somalia, that is). He went to Feltham Community College and his dad was born and raised in Hounslow. Sadly, he seems to be a gooner though.

Thoroughly deserved award.....what Wiggins did by winning the TdeF set the tone for the rest of the most wonderful summer of sport we will ever see....in all honesty any one of the 12 nominees could have won it and it would have been deserved.

    Simply enjoy the memories.

See your point but every time I cycle up the very small hill out side my house I have to take my hat off to those guys. Having said, I feel the same about Mo when I've run my 2miles in 22 mins which is the time he takes ot run a much longer distance!

Mo won 2 gold medals and cycling IMO is easier than running long distances.

I agree that cycling is easier but Mo didn't have to do it every day for 3 weeks going up some pretty tough mountains in extreme heat

Exactly. The Tour is recognized by most sports trainers as the toughest physical challenge on the planet so its hard to understand why people on here seem to think they know better. It was also very refreshing that the British public managed to overlook the sins of earlier cycling professionals and accept that Wiggins is a true (and clean) champion. This is unlike ABITB and his various aliases who spends so much time on here I doubt he could walk down the stairs let alone do even half hour of the Tour. It really makes me angry that we are so ready to denigrate someone who has truly achieved the highest of athletic goals while lauding such 'champions' as the overpaid and overweight golfers. Rant over (unless someone wants to argue).

Every single one of them riding in the middle of the road, ignoring traffic lights and not paying road tax round my way, it seems. Healthy bastards.

What, you mean like Greg Rusedski? :emoticon-0136-giggl

Rory McIllroy being in there is a bit weird too. Ach sure each to their own I suppose.

Why on earth is it called Sports "Personality" of the Year? Doesn't that mean, well, personality? What's that got to do with your sporting prowess?

Pity that nice girl Ennis didn't win it. She's a grand lass.
