Plumpton 3.35 tomorrow see the return from a long absence for THUNDERSTORM 7-4. This is pretty mediocre race and I dont think that connections would have persisted with this one if he wasnt a bit decent. I think he could very well turn this into a procession off this mark. I know its not the sort of race where a lot of you would want to smash into a 7-4 shot but when a JP horse gets backed the minute someone puts prices up you have to take note. I studied the race at length earlier and had it between this one and My Sister but I have to say that the gap between the two could be enormous. Fill yer boots!

Racing Post reporting that Sizing Europe is more likely to run at Leopardstown this Christmas rather than Kempton.

Cantlow once again being raced over 2m in the 1.00 at Plumpton. Not sure why they are persisting in running him at a trip that is blatantly too short....

Getting experience into him without wrecking his h'cap mark for when he steps up in trip I would imagine...

...not quite as blatant as Mark Prescott running 12f horses over 6f though!

Plumpton 7 races with only 35 horses entered! Not exactly going to pull the crowds in!

    Morning all

    2.25 Wolves - CHEERS FOR THEA @ 4/1

Hard to believe she was racing off a mark of 88 in June. Has shown signs, that a return to form maybe just around the corner. Now down to a mark of 62 with a further 5lb being claimed by the jockey. If she doesn't win today- next stop sellers.

    Good luck all

well im amazed that Sizing Europe could possibly run in a Lexus. I suspect if he skips Kempton he will possibly run the 2m dial a bet chase instead- but does that mean he is Champion Chase bound?

I think he ever wanted to get 3m at the highest level Kempton would be the best bet.

First Lieutenant confirmed for the Lexus so that really is shaping up. Think Bobs Worth is skipping it.

Morning, all. Merry Christmas! The stand-out fact for me is that today we have 14 NH heats and none, I say none, have attracted a double figure field! Despite this Plumpers looks a better than average Monday card with a couple of races looking interesting.

Dear old Stick has already flagged up Thunderstorm in the ‘lucky last’ and Pip Hobbs’ candidate looks very well treated off just 93. Even more intruing to me though is the novice chase at 1.00 in which Mr Henderson unleashes Oscara Dara. Despite being almost 8 this one has had his problems and only seen the racecourse 5 times but he has been most promising in these heats the highlights being a novice hurdle romp, a 4th place behind Darlan in a Grade 2 at Aintree and a nice win at last terms Punchestown Festival. Looks to have the potential to be very good over the big ‘uns and the Bass boy rides today (don’t think of this as a negative, people, as remember the same pilot rode Sprinter Sacre on his fencing bow). However, in Cantlow (already rated 138) the old boy faces a formidable rival on his fencing bow and I won’t be getting involved at odds of 8/11. It should be pointed out that the winner of the 1.00 qualifies for a £60k bonus should he follow up at the Cheltenham Festival so all runners will be trying that little bit harder today, methinks.

In summary then I will be keenly watching both Oscara Dara and Thunderstorm closely but at the current odds won’t be getting involved. Should the old regular readers wish to do the old double, however, it’s currently paying 100/30.

    Good luck all.

Agree Toppy.Henderson has no intention of running Bobs Worth into a hot Lexus at this stage of the horses career.

I would imagine HQ at the end of January or the AON and then the CGC.

If he runs in Ireland it will be at P'town,a venue the forum's favourite trainer oft supports.

Bobs Worth only ran four times last year.

I presume that if Darlan has a run before the race then PadPow will give you the 3/1... If he dosnt run then you wont, and they will change the odds... I maybe wrong but thats how i see it George...

It means that is the price if he runs, if he doesn't you get your money back. They often do this market with big names that are possibly going to swerve races. Take a look at the bookmakers t&c to confirm.

I say it’s that time of the year when I can do my annual joke re Newbury’s 12.50 on Wednesday! Here we go then...I’ll wager that this heat is either cancelled or alternatively delayed due to there being either leafs on the track or signalling problems on the old starter’s rostrum!

I’ve been to this pre-Christmas meeting several times over the years (but sadly not this time around) and many a decent horse usually turns up. This year both Poet and New Years Eve could make there hurdling bows as could Mr Henderson’s Cocktails At Dawn in the later 19 furlong novice event. The sky could be the limit re this one incidentally.

Like a fine wine, it matures with age.
