to save you continuing to talk out of your sheriffs badge...

We would not have bought Carroll if we did not receive 50m for Torres. If Torres went for 30m no way were Newcastle getting 35m.

    35 for carroll
    20 for downing
16 for hendo ( only one who has shown a bit of promise and has more time)
    8 for Adam

79 million. I know the argument was " well if you paid for Aguero you have to add the wages, etc" as that thread was a long time ago. Yes you would have to pay the high wages for an aguero BUT with 79 you don't have to just buy an aguero, mata,Cazorla, for example.

Cabaye, Cisse, Ba, P. hernandez, Javier Hernandez, Michu, G. Ramirez, etc all cost 12 mil or less. All of good enough quality to help us out that is for sure. That is what, 5,10, 5( or free?) ,6,6,2, 12 = 46 million. Think about that for awhile commolli.

Forgot about jelavic, Mirallas, Dembele, as other examples of players who were about 12 mil or less.

So if you had gone for Hulk would they have given you 15 million more than his going price?

You are treating each transfer as a single deal to suit your bollox argument. Unfortunately the business is run like that.

But seeing as you are too fktarded to understand and too obtuse to see any other point you can take your wummery elsewhere <ok>

Kenny was never my choice for anything other than a caretaker after Roy, and in that capacity he did a sound job. My feeling in 2011 is that we should have given martinez a go then (though I've no problems with Brendan instead - the strategy is the same thing). Worst of all worlds was to give Kenny and Commolli £100m-odd and then pull the rug after one full season. Insane.

But here we are, and it's patience for at least four season's, imho, and don't expect any more stellar signing unless/until we can get back in the CL again. But I think we still need to win the odd cup and/or make finals in the meantime - just as Kenny was doing. :emoticon-0112-wonde:emoticon

Tobes is trying to point out we paid too much for Carroll.

    We did, noone said otherwise.

Carroll cost 35m because it was the last minute in the Jan window.. Tobes cannot admit that.

Torres was not worth 50m but it was the last minute in the window so we got 50m. Tobes cannot see that?

If Torres didn't go, the funding for Carroll was not there, the ridiculous price paid for Torres allowed the deal for Carroll to go through, right choice or not the point is we got Carroll and 15m for Torres even if Carroll was overpriced. No other transfers matter in this context no matter how tobes slides all over the topic getting it wrong.

15m and Carroll who at the time appeared to be better for a player not paying well and wanting out. Good deal.

Now Tobes has some retrospective goggles on and hindsight to boot he can say we'll lose money on carroll. That's the risk you take but the initial deal was sound math. Suarez was bought to play with Torres. Torres went we got Carroll and 15m. Again for the slow, the timing and Newcastles unwillingness to sell make sure the price was high. We needed a striker and it didnt work out which is all you can point to, his worth dropping which makes your whole transfer argument mute cos if Carroll performed you wouldn't be opening your trap<ok>

Your whole argument stands on that last fact

  11. Maybe all that is true, I'm certainly not going to argue otherwise. However, no matter how you paint it up, we still paid £35,000,000 for Andrew Carroll! In whatever language you chose to use, that is a crazy deal!

Even if we had gotten £1billion for Torres, I would still be saying we paid too much for Carroll! It is about selling for as much as possible and and spending as little as possible. They were two seperate deals, one was very good and the other was ****.

We walked into a car showroom and said "Do you know what, I can't believe I just sold my classic Mustang for £50k to some insistent Russion billionaire, when I only paid £24k for it three years ago and the cylinder head gasket and drive shaft are shot on it! Anyway, I need a motor for tonight to take my bird out. How much is that monster-truck going for?...."

I can't believe Comolli is still coming out with this crap. He should cower away and hope for another job.

    - Andy Carroll £35 Million. Actual value: £12 Million. (Overspent £23 Million).
    - Downing £20 Million. Actual value at the time £12 Million (Overspent £8 Million).
    - Adam £8 Million. Actual value £6 Million. (Overspend £2 Million)
    - Henderson £16-18 Million. Actual value £8 Million. (Overspent 8-10 Million).

So £43 milllion pounds I reckon we overspent which is ultimately his responsibility and why we let him go.

You could look at it in terms of net worth, net value. In that case we have had almost no change out of £35 million currently, a loss on Adam, stand to make a massive loss on Downing who I can't see gong for more than 6 million.

Hendersons the only one of any real worth, although i'm not convined on that either.

Don't get me started on players we could of got. It seems we didn't look for value, we just (Kenny) picked the players we wanted and broke the bank (Comolli) to get them. Absolutely horrendous business decision and strategy. Very amateur which enabled clubs to bleed us dry.

To conclude - Comolli keep quiet!
