I believe that once he's played 50 league games for Villa, they owe Sunderland another £6m (it was £18m rising to £24m on appearances). I don't think it was a coincidence that he played in the league cup!??

He'd be a great signing but would Villa let him join a relegation rival? Also, if you were him would you join us? I can't see him being offered the money (£80k a week) he's on at Villa plus, unless TF is totally mad, he'd need to sign a contract that lowers his wages if we are relegated.

Think this has got Liverpool written all over it, probably with Downing going back in the deal.

I think Bent is past his best and now injury-prone, THAT more than anything, as well as the financial liabilty, is probably why he is being frozen out. It's a shame for him as at his best he was a tremendous finisher, I remember him scoring a hat-trick against us in a pre-season friendly against Charlton years ago and he was different class...
