Army background, anyone picks on your mates you wade in, and on our board we do get a lot of wums, especially just after a defeat, now on reflection maybe i was quick off the mark, but then your timing of the post and your subsequent responses to our lads did get my back up, the same would happen on here, there are guys on both sides always trying to push the others buttons.

Well I thought ACS was out of line posting the poll on the sunderland board and clearly MR is out of line here too. The fact he put "partridge" is simply hilarious of course.

I love it how my name just gets left out of all lists ever when people are talking about posters. Maybe i need a sig and a picture of something...

ps. Pardew in. We've had injuries to contend with, suspension (which are self-inflicted of course but still hurt) and most importantly Europe (which few can be in doubt has caused us to drop points - if we only had 3-5 more points we'd be looking fairly comfortable tbh).

Both teams are playing terrible but we can at least take some solice from a decent european campaign and an extra point (I can't see Sunderland not outplaying Reading tonight, the only issue is whether they can put the ball in the back of the net but i guess 3-1 to Sunderland)

Been sorely tempted to bet 3-1 but its just plain wrong to bet on them winning

Hi Guys - Fulham fan, butting in.

Whilst I dislike Partridge, I think when you get Cabaye back and HBA properly fit, that you really should be top half - you are suffering like we did in 09/10 of EL/PL fixture demands on a squad which is not DEEP enough in quality. Your top 11 in good form are excellent (mind that is true of maybe half the PL teams).

Sunderland, I'm surprised at too. I think MO'N is an OK bloke and manager. Their team is patchy, but also has some good quality in places - I think Johnson is an extremely capable player and is slowly coming back into his own. I think they'll be 12-15th.

My Team - well we have the same strength in depth issues. Though (allegedly) we have money to spend. Like you we have (rightly in my view) a strict wage cap (ours around £45k; yours around £60k). This may be limiting in the short term, but for longer term club stability is essential and part of the rise of some of the "unfashionable clubs" Fulham, Swansea, WBA (stabilising in PL).....maybe even Norwich. This may be heresy, but I think that Mr Ashley has done something very positive to help your club in this way - it may be less exciting than Keegan, John Hall and Freddie Shepherd, but it is more sustainable.

It's just the same as one of our posters put on their board. Tit for Tat. It's not a major issue.

Undoubtedly, we just went a little too far this season with going lean. We sold Forster, Guthrie, Lovenkrands, Best. All fringe first team players. We signed only Anita (who looks quality to be fair), Bigiramana, Good, Amalfitano. One first team, two fringes and a development. Its caught up with us. We are probably three light, quality centre back, left back and left sided forward. Would love Frei!

    Completely this...

For the record, I want Pardew to stay, but there's no point beating around the bush - we had a dogshit transfer window and some of the blame has to fall at his feet!

Yes he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, yes he had to avoid upsetting his current bunch of players by complaining that we didn't strengthen, yes I'm sure he DID have to fight tooth and nail to keep this bunch of players together - but at the end of the day, he isn't the first and won't be the last manager to have very little money to play with...

This transfer window is crucial and I'm not in the mood for any spin...Either get the players or don't, but don't say "we need a,b and c" at the start of the window and then "The board have been brilliant, I told them I needed a and b and they've said they'll deliver" before, on February 1st "We only really needed a, and the board have come through and put their money where their mouth is" ... We as fans aren't ****ing stupid and don't deserve to be treated as such, regardless of Pardew's motivations!

To be fair, I know Paras and they definitely analyse the situation before firing like, as I pointed out on the thread... I actually went paintballing with one at the weekend and the guy's tactical skills were incredible.
The timing of a "post something nice about the other club" thread? An attempt to bridge the two forums... Don't see how that can ever be badly timed?
Subsequent responses were piss-taking of unnecessarily angry reactions, for which there was no call.

But I'll take that as close to an apology as I will ever get <smooch>

    P.S
Sunderland are 2 up against a poor Reading side, Marty will surely get some breathing space to Jan. Hopefully both clubs get some quality in during the window, it ain't looking good. <ok>

Fiscal sustainability is more to cling on to than nothing for a fan, but it still leaves us like Kate Winslet on a wooden panel in the Atlantic stepping over dead Leonardo... We're not going to win anything either way, but we can erroneously shout about how financially responsible we are... Not sure I'm really qualified enough to dismiss Citeh, Man Utd fans etc gloating with accountancy, but I could count the number of trophies we've won on one stub if I had no limbs!

Is it desperate to think of football like this? Or just a shimmer of hope we could one day be successful?

    P.s
You live in Morpeth? I believe that has the ****test bus service known to mankind... Unlucky fella!

I'm enjoying it! Fletcher's goal was great. Cisse has triedthat a few times and got nowhere near!

Still think Larsson is getting worse as a footballer... He's just being thuggish now. Is he trying to be Cattermole?

I also voted PF and am still that, for pretty much all the reasons Warm Pouch mentioned in his post - he's shown he is capable, that we have last season to live up to etc. Plus I just don't think that kicking Pardew out now serves much of a purpose other than bringing back the instability we all wanted rid of in the first place. Give him a chance to turn things round in the face of adversity, and if he can't do it/hasn't done it by the end of the season, then I will consider changing my mind.

Saying that I also agree with Jesus was a Geordie in that the January window is crucial, and I think anything less than a couple of signings and a max of one going out (and I would hope for better than that but accept I may be delusional ) means the second half of the season is going to be a repeat of the first, and this has been bad enough.

While the players and the manager have to take part of the flak for our current situation, I point the finger mostly at Cashley and his sidekick for seemingly only realising that we were in a European Cup Competition around about early September when the rest of us were aware of this in May. That is the only reason I can think of for why an owner wouldn't invest in his squad over the summer.

Oh, maybe there's another reason ... he's trying to run us like his business and turn us into Sports Direct Athletic ....

PF. I don't think he's a great manager but I think we have to stick with him.

From Newcastle you're stuck with the 44A Arriva... It stops at Narnia and the Shire on route... Or I suspect it does, would explain it going missing!
