And you don't think FC want standing either? Apart from the grounds shared with football clubs (Wigan, Huddersfield, Hull), Widnes is the only one in Super League without.

If it goes through and someone will pay for it then the KC will have standing.

Thats exactly what I think mate.
Imagine how intimadating that would be for the opposition, a Kempton but BEHIND the goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sure if this happens the other stands would become more vocal.

I guess it's going to be a long time before we see safe standing in the kc. What will the stewards do when standing is introduced?

To some extent surely that was down to the type of ground that BP was. With a rose-bowl ground like the KC the acoustics are slightly different hence why our crowds can be fairly quiet. Having terraces at the KC wouldn't really effect the acoustics a great deal imo.

My understanding has always been that the Hillsborough inquiry never laid any blame on it being unseated.

One conclusion about safety in football grounds in general was that a part of the problem was the demographics. Crowds were dominated by young male men. Seating was seen as one option to encourage more older people, women and children and to break up the young male mob mentality by mixing them with the newcomers and socially re-engineering the crowd and make people more identifiable.

There's really no argument against safe standing. What Ben said there is important - standing still happens in the lower leagues and people aren't dying, left, right anc centre are they? The system being proposed would actually be far safer than the ones in place now at Peterborough and the League 1 and 2 clubs which still have it.

Its quiet in the KC due to quiet fans with no set "singing" area - its not the design of the stadium thats at fault.
If we get a standing area in the North stand and people fill it, the sound they would generate in the KC would be louder than the Kempton where the sound "escaped" due to the gaps around the ends of the stand, well and the holes in the back and roof!!

Perhaps the next FA idea will be to supplement the fence with a moat.

I wouldn't have voted for him anyway. But it won't make any difference as he is in a very safe seat. Last time the Lib Dems were a comfortable second but with their meltdown the Tories will get in with an even bigger majority next time.

Acoustics ? Have you ever been to a football match with a standing area at all ??

If you I haven't I feel sorry that you have missed out , no comparison with the atmosphere in an all seater stadium

If Hull FC are in favour then it will be much easier to implement cos the council will back it.

    Without FC's support I foresee a struggle.

    Bargaining tool for Mr Pearson......

Think FC will be on board, it makes no odds to them as there wont be any fans in the safe standing areas at their home games!!!
