Id love for this to happen. It surely cant be much work and we already know who in the crowd wants it. Literally replacing the seats in P,Q and R block would do the trick although Id love it if it was the whole of the Loft.

I really cant fathom though the thought process behind putting the "family stand" right beside the loudest and rudest part of the crowd. Isnt the idea to stop kids from being exposed to swearing or whatever?

I for one will not be standing, I remember going to hell holes like Posh and Brentford and standing and I hated it, you would go have a few then have a mile or so walk to the ground then have to stand up for the game not get to the bog at half time, have to stand in someone elses piss for the next 45 minuets then if we scored all hell would break loose and some poor sod would end up in the piss, NO THANK YOU

You do realise you will still be able to sit down? Male the lower loft and the paddocks standing as well as the lower school end. Move the family area to the SAR/LR corner.

The Old Den was the worst, psycho fans, **** ground and that scary walk from the Tube.

Never understood the appeal, some of the crowd surges and the fighting wasn't for the fainthearted. They had terraces back in the seventies in Italy but people some brought cushions and sat on them, better weather maybe.

I think the main advantage for bringing back standing is that it becomes easier for those that leave HQ early every week to sneak out without the rest of us having to be disturbed!

Standing terraces are incredibly different to what they used to be.

Each person has an allocated seat so no overcrowding. Rails between each row so no surges either. Safer than what is currently in place in the R Block where Ive seen for myself where the person behind stumbles, you have no where to step and the chair in front acts like a trip wire and you're gone.

Plus there are seats in the terrace meaning you can sit before the match and at HT.

Where is that mate ?? Looks a very sanitised and safer version of the old 80's terraces.

    Used in the Bundesliga mostly.

I believe its Schalke who have a terrace that holds 26,000 and is meant to be an absolutely incredible place to watch football from. They have people in the stands selling beer as well!

I thought it was Dortmund and the seats have to be used for Euro ties but they are retracted for Bundesliga matches.

Sounds very good mate. I like the look of it. To be honest, don't know if I would stand anymore. Dunno why, maybe a combination of age and just the fact I've hot used to sitting after all these years. But I'm definatly on the side if giving the choice to those that do

Same here, but it gives the chance to the people who want to stand. Id be happy with seating that means you dont have to get up to let people past. I get annoyed having to do it 30 times a game because my row are a bunch of pissheads!

I can understand why fans have to stand at some grounds. If you've got a tall lanky **** such as myself sitting in front of you, then you will struggle to see what is going on. Also right at the back of some stadiums especially SJP it is near impossible to see what is going on at the nearest goal.

I suppose the trouble with the reserved seating is that the kids cant go to the front to get an unobstructed view.
I remember taking a German mate to see Saints v Blackburn and hes 6ft 7"-8" and I felt sorry for the poor sod behind he with the shallow angled seating.

I hate standing. I don't see how it improves the experience. I'm getting on a bit now and if I had to stand, I wouldn't go. That's one of the things the Premier League says: all seater stadiums attract a broader mix of people - ladies, youngsters and old farts like me. I can recall leaving Loftus Road in the 60's after a 25,000 gate: my feet didn't touch the ground until I reached the road outside. I can also recall fans, including myself, desperately needing a pee and not being able to get to the loos through the standing masses. And my waterworks haven't improved since then!

I know the whole stadium wouldn't have to be standing but just wanted to make it very clear that there are people and very good arguments against going too far down that road.

I always stand at away games anyway as the atmosphere is more hardcore and enjoyable.

People stand at concerts so whats the difference?

I think what we need to increase ticket sales are few decent performances, rather than the pathetic, lame efforts we have seen against Soton, West Ham etc. Mind you, at least people in front dont temporarily block your view by gettting up to walk out early, when everyone is standing.

There is absolutely no argument for not bringing safe standing into football grounds. It won't and shouldn't be the whole ground, obviously and it won't be anything like the 80s, obviously. If either of those situations were possible then I'd understand but other than people from the JFT96 not wanting it, and why they need to be consulted is beyond me, what negatives would come from having German style standing areas?

Everyone stands, far less safely, in areas of the ground and away from home. We can stand at concerts in football grounds ffs. Organised, dedicated standing areas would be a hell of a lot safer than falling over three rows of seats when a last minute winner goes in now.
