    Morning gasheads <hug>

After a good night sleep I woke up thinking 'what if' regarding yesterdays game. MM was correct in a way in his post match interview. We had good chances yesterday and should have taken the lead. The Hammer and Clarkson both missed good chances early on, Clarkson the easiest of the chances. IF we had taken 1 of those chances, it would have been a different game of course. Still may have ended up losing but who knows. But we failed to take the chances that were coming and then D&R went down the other end and scored. After D&R scored they didnt really trouble our goal. We still ended up creating more chances during the game and failed to take them as well. On another day we could have got 4 or 5.

We ended up with same amount of shots ON target (9) than what D&R had on and off target put together. We had 11 corners compared to D&R 4.

Is it confidence? Is it just bad luck?

We have been shocking in defence all season. We have the worse home defensive record in our league. So its important when chances come that we take them. Yesterday should have been 3 points. But our inability to defend and take our chances has again costed us 3 points against a poor side.

I thought it was just bad luck captain........Lewington had good game it ws just one of those games.....imho i thought we played a better all round game yesterday
we still need a keeper with the balls to shout at players and to come for the ball......we need a good midfielder who can hold the ball up and run at other teams. And we need someone who isnt sh!t scared of taking a shot.

Have to disagree CJS we huffed and puffed but for that 30 seconds of play with hammer and clarkson offered very little to trouble Dagenham and Redbridge, they always looked reasonably composed and in control and we lacked any real threat at all. An abject performance by players unable to string two passes together and seriously lacked any pace or conviction. Too many journeymen and loanees breeds a lack of commitment to the shirt and the club. It was apparent in all we did. As for MacGhee surely his post match comments were nothing more than a plea to the board to sack him. Claiming we battered Daggers in the second half and he was looking at the positives from the match!! Either he's taking the piss or trying to look inept in an attempt to be sacked. Worse performance from a team and manager I've seen in a long time.......I'm off to support Melksham Town costs less to travel, less to get in and there are 11 local lads on the pitch playing as a team and wanting to do their best rather than pick up a big fat pay packet.

Last night I was angry/chessed off that we have lost yet another game and fell into the bottom 2. I still stand by what I said in a different thread that my patience for MM has ran out. He still picks the wrong players in the wrong positions and fails to do the basics right. He had excuses before with the injuries but i dont think he can use this now. This shows he has been poor in the transfer market as the players are just not good enough or if they are they just aint showing it. And shows he cannot motivate the players to perform. So I still stand by what I said last night, MM has to go.

But looking back at the game yesterday, I agree with Billygas that yesterday was an improvement - performance wise. Still not great but it was still an improvement. Maybe it looked like an improvement as D&R were a poor side. Their keeper did make several good saves which on another day and another keeper, we would have scored plenty and won in a comfortable fashion. Their keeper won that game for them yesterday. Think we were unlucky yesterday. We should have won the game based on the chances we had. But if you dont take your chances you dont deserve to win.

I know what you're saying cjs, but.....................
Isn't football forever throwing up phrases such as:
we had most of the play/we had twice as many corners as them/they scored from their only shot/
we peppered their goal/our 'keeper didn't have a shot to save apart from the goal(s)/the referee
did us no favours/if we'd taken that chance we would have gone on to win....and so on
But when it's match after match after match and we've just lost to DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE!!!
Sorry cjs, that's not light at the end of the tunnel, it's a bluddy oncoming train!

Gentlemen,If an alien life form (someone from Ashton Gate) had watched the game yesterday his summary would have gone something like this

Ha Ha S***e Gas f**K*D it up and are now in the relegation spots serves them right with all the S***e they have been giving our players, supporters and management lately! grin.gif

As we were playing away and with nothing else to do I went to the mem ground and watched the Rovers game.

    My Summary is as follows

Fell asleep during the first half View attachment 19529 other when the Daggers goalie Lewington made a brilliant triple save to deny Rovers Norburn and our reject Clarkson(was he a championship player) twice laughed I nearly wet myself.Oh yeh then Daggers went down the other end walked through Rovers defence (Crime calling it a defence more of a collection of old farts huffing and puffing) slotted home easy........ you beauty. After that I drifted in and out of sleep, occassionally hearing cries of 11 players does not make a team Magoo.

Highlight of the day at half time had a fine pie and a cup of tea, much cheaper than down Ashton gate result.

After the break Rovers a different team came out obviously Magoo had words with them during the break, dont try to hard to score get injured and ignore each other on the field when you are passing the ball, as they huffed and puffed front to back far also as far as I could tell the midfield stayed in the changing room as I did not not notice them in the 2nd 45mins.That boy Eaves looks a good player though shame no one gave him any support all game otherwise.
Dagenham continued to look really comfortable in defence midfield and attack regulary tormenting Rovers wooden defence.
Spent a good deal of the second half checking Iphone for City's score 3-2 result we are out of the relegation spots and The whistle blew for full time too a chorus of boooos and the Rovers players notice I did not say team ran down the tunnel for a hard earned rest.

Rovers are propping up all the leagues and really do not appear to have anything in the locker that will get them out of the bottom two spots a better team than the average Daggers will slaughter them.

imagesCA8PFVLA.jpg it cannot get any worse Rovers fans...........Oh yes it will

Rodders air_kiss.gif too many of my family already support the reds so thanks for the kind invite which I sadly decline.

My only slim hope is that Rovers exit the relegation spots before Boxing day otherwise I will be dragged down to watch City play Watford (Mind you Watford are looking good this season) unless I get exceedly drunk on christmas day and pull a sicky.

We need a lucky scruffy win with a hapless official in charge like your lot. View attachment 19533

Can't see any sense in pretending we were unlucky yesterday because we've scored first loads of times and still not won. Dagenham were a poor side but were cruising most of the time because we give the ball away too easily and have no one who can run at a defence with the ball and create openings let alone anyone who can score even if we did. Don't forget they had a cast iron penalty which wasn't given as well.

Sometimes in this position you need luck, but the Wednesday players can only blame themselves, they all know you play to the whistle.

But looking forward to seeing you there on boxing day <ok>

think some people have miss understood me.

i said: "IF we had taken 1 of those chances, it would have been a different game of course. Still may have ended up losing but who knows."

i didnt say if we would have scored 1st we would have won. when i woke up this morning i was thinking 'what if'. 'what if' clarkson scored the sitter which turned out to be a fantastic save by their keeper. all i was saying was we had great chances and IF we had taken 1 then it would have been a different story. we may have ended up scoring 4 or 5. we still may have ended up losing. we just dont know. i was stating the bleeding obvious that we have to start taking our chances which was what MM was saying. our inability to take our chances has again costed us 3 points against a poor side in dag and red.

i do think it was an improvement on previous games performance wise but it may have looked an improvement as dag and red was poor. i stand by what i said last night that i think its time MM went.

so all im saying is MM needs to go. for far too long we have lost points due to our poor keeper, defence and midfield and due to out inability to take our chances. yesterdays chances were very good chances. but we came up against a keeper who was in top form.

Still want to see Riordan right up top. I agree with everyone who has said he hasn't shown enough since joining but even from left midfield he has made some runs into the box and narrowly missed getting on the end of a loose ball. He has that instinct, and just think if he was further up the pitch would get on the end of some of them.

Interesting view that COR adopted for his view of the game.

I have just watched the highlights of Saturday's game at Hillsborough. Three penalty decisions all in favour of the away side.
    1. First to the reds. What the hell was that for? Was the defenders foot too high? Well I suppose it was up around knee high when he took the ball!!
    2. Second to the reds. Ball hits the defender on the point of the shoulder!!
    3. Not given to the blues. If the second one was given then the more blatent one here should have! Oh and by the way the blues went on to score and that was disallowed.

Looks as though Lady Luck is on her way to grace Bristol sides.

It must be the turn of the Gas next!!!
