What a player, he's turned himself, the team and my opinion of him around. Never saw it happening in a million years, wanted him out of the club. But I'll take my hat off to him and say how great he has been for us. COYR
With Lallana he's been the joint best player for us this season, you would expect that from Adam but great credit to Jason he's turned it round astonishingly well.
I have never been so delighted to e proved wrong about a player. I wanted shot of him last January but this season he has really been a great player to us and an delighted with the way he is playing.
One thing I've noticed is that his link up play with Clyne is brilliant, and that combination down the right is working so well and creating so many chances / goals.
The one thing that seems to stand out at the moment is how much of a goal threat he is, had one disallowed today and a couple of quite close chances; and it's not even a one off, he could have had a hattrick against QPR!
Was never one that wanted rid of him but didn't think he'd be anything other than a squad player, and if an offer came in the summer for around £1-2m I'd have been very happy for us to take that. Then in the first 9/10 games I thought he was up and down, a little bit inconsistent and was very much in favour of bringing Mayuka in to give him a go ahead of him, but in the last 5 games he's been absolutely fantastic. Great finish today as well, if he can produce a bit more with his right foot and give defenders more trouble in not knowing which way he's headed, rather than being so left sided then he can become even more dangerous.
I wanted him out at the beginning of last season, but this summer it was pretty evident we were going to need him in the squad.
I always wanted him to be given another chance ... so happy with Punch this season, has exceeded my expectations
Always said he was a premier league player, after he did well for Blackpool on loan. Downside is that it's quite obvious he didn't fancy league one, and only decided he would stay with us last season when it looked like we'd be promoted. There is probably an element of playing for a new contract as well. Just can't rely on him unfortunately, but on current form he's indispensable.
I think he's genuinely improved his attitude. He went toe to toe with Cortese and got rightfully humiliated. He was eventually offered a second chance, and humbly took it and looks a totally different person. I think you have to give credit to Punch for learning a valuable lesson and improving himself as a team player and a professional.
