Euro 2020 will not have a host nation and instead games will be played across European countries putting the supporters, players and tradition last and some stupid idea to make more money first. Well done Platini, put another 0 on your pay cheque for that brilliant idea <ok>

What is wrong with this dickhead???

He is out to ruin everything for the average fan and line his own pockets till he retires.

Retarded twat, I despise him. Anyone who can sit in front of a group of people whilst listening to their racist behaviour and not do a thing, when he has the power to do so is an arsehole who deserves all the good words from me he gets. ****er.

So presumably, the highest bidder(s) get the pick of the games. Clearly all about money and **** the fans who can't afford to zoom from one European capital to another.

The thing is, the central idea isn't actually as flawed as it's being made out to be - there's a reason that the Euros have been split between countries more and more (Poland/Ukraine, Switzerland/Austria, Holland/Belgium), and it's because it's an event that costs World Cup money, but doesn't have World Cup revenue to justify the outlay. Portugal were well and truly stung for the 2004 tournament, to the point there's a stadium in Faro that has 30,000 capacity yet will never fill it because Faro and Farense are in the second and third divisions respectively, so all it does is leech the local economy to stay open to not be filled. Something similar will be in Stratford very soon.

Another thing against the Euros is there's less casual fans going to games played by non-host nations, be it the embarrassing attendances for Euro '96 that didn't feature England or Scotland, whilst many nations have differing sizes of travelling support: Italy have a large home support but the further from Italy they play the less of them travel, whilst Greek and Portuguese fans can barely afford travel given how financially crippled their countries are these days.

Of course, it depends how many cities are chosen. The most ridiculous notion would be one team playing their group games in Lisbon, St Petersburg and Athens, a more logical notion would be playing their group games in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.

There will be 12 cities with potentially a 13th in reserve to prevent any side getting a "home" match. Why 12? Well because there will be 6 groups by then, one of UEFA's other brilliant changes. Each group will play across 2 cities and after the groups fans will find out which city they're playing in the next match with about 4 days notice to get expensive tickets, flights and hotels in the next city up. The semis and final will be in the same city though, if that's any consolation. Basically they're celebrating 60 years since the first competition by changing everything and bastardising it the extent that it's unrecognisable from the first one. It's football for the rich, **** the rest.

It's Platini, the head of UEFA that has unsurprisingly also given France Euro 16.

I don' t view it as such a bad idea, as be interesting to see how it works.

There seems alot of thought and ideas being thrown about in regards to the euros and europa league and while the euros isnt a second rate comp, it doesnt seem to have the sparkle as before.......possibly thats due to England being useless!

"No! The worst idea in the history of the world is fighting a land war in Asia. But the SECOND worst idea in the world is making a wager on death with a Sicilian!"

So this is no more than the third worst idea ever.

Taking into account the qualifiers which already take teams all over Europe it seems daft that the Finals should also do this.

Bringing it back to 8 finalists would ensure a top quality tournament and of a size that more nations could afford to host. It also makes the whole competition more valuable and getting to the finals more celebrated. They wont consider this simply because of money so we can look forward to another football competition devalued to suit sponsors and uefa. Exactly the same as the club competitions.

At least we won't have the humiliation of being rejected as a host bidder after being led a merry dance!

I knew as soon as this French twat got in he would meddle with everything as we knew it.

    Awful idea. Shit, ****, ****, ****, ****.

Having said that, I'm surprised that he hasn't tried to move it to Qatar.

I'm sure if he thought he could convince the world that Qatar was really part of Europe after all, he would!

At least it will spread the tourism cash around, usually countries that will host games in this format would never have had a chance to get the whole tourney themselves.

With World cup successes like Japan South Korea and lately the Euros it is only an expansion of that idea.

Tradition... oh please!! We evolve the game evolves the world evolves but traditions are static and many are well out of date.

Europe hosting the European cup, shocking <laugh>
