Nile Ranger is going to start tonight.

To be fair, if he's putting in the effort and work ethic with regards to training, I say 'good on Pardew'!

don't know how many times this has been said before but i feel it will be last chance saloon for him.
Cock this chance up and I'm sure he'll get the bullet for good

Think Pardew's probably putting him the shop window.

I think this may well be the case. Plus as I've said previously only Ashley can discard him. If he is telling Pardew he's wants him included/managed, Pardew has set the guidelines and Nile has followed them, he'll lose respect with the players if he then moves the goalposts. A dead rubber is the perfect game to utilise him while getting him some exposure to potential buyers.

As Pardew says, there's no point saying to anyone: "You are finished - - there is nothing you can do which will change that".

If he has been playing by the rules, then he deserves to be judged by his merits. We are down to the nubbins. It's a nothing game. We put him in the shop window.

Not hugely happy about it, but I see the logic

It's also avoiding the risk of injury to another one of our first teamer's.

If the guy plays like we all know he can, (see the 4-4 with Arsenal where he was probably our best player in that second half) then welcome back!

Ranger is fast and strong. The only thing he lacked was confidence in front of goal and a bit of instinct.

Some players are born with instincts and need to develop other attributes.

Ranger has strength, pace, is decent on the ball, but all that's lacking is that cutting edge in front of goal.

Hopefully if he stops being a **** and stops hanging around with those stupid hoodlums, he could develop into a half decent player.

If he's part of the squad now, it means he's obviously improved.

Sorry lads, I don't care how desperate we are this lad shouldn't have been selected. He's basically took the P.ss out of us for a while now and should have been shown the door or sold pronto.
I feel heartily sorry for those players who have bidded their time only to be overlooked for a numpty.

The point is that he wasn't sold (porbably unsellable) and wasn't shown the door. I would have liked him to be as well. It may be more difficult to do than we know.

Anyway, if he is a member of the squad, what do you do ? Make an assessment of who to play on footballing reasons or tell him that football is irrelevant - - he's barred for life no mater how well he behaves or how well he plays ?

i wish we'd ditched him, if it was possible, just so we wouldn't find ourselves in this position. As we haven't, though, I think you have to make decisions on the basis of who is most likely to be of assistance in winning matches

I don't think anyone is saying they are glad he is still here. Its for Ashley to answer that. Once he stays on the payroll, Pardew just has to treat him like any other squad member.

    He was good.
He showed us why we rated him, he was a handful for their defence the whole game.
I feel he can be something, he jsut needs to get his freaking brain fixed, and his potential is there for all to see.

If the powers that be, (owing to injuries) decide Ranger has to play, I'll always support him on the pitch, (although he is one fortunate kid)
