It used to be that the Chargers were a perennial contender. Every year they would start slow. Every year they would climb up the standings in the AFC West Division, usually battling the Raiders, Chiefs or Broncos for the title in the last week or two. I'm sorry to say that they have lost their inertia over the last three years. Now they are just awful, consistently. At 4-8 as of this writing, they can't string together wins and should be looking to preserve the health of their franchise Quarterback, Philip Rivers. The guy can be great, but not if he is running for his life every snap and has nobody of worth to throw at. After losing to the Jets in the 2009 Season playoffs, they just never got rolling again. The ownership has stuck with a Coach that can't win in the playoffs and a GM who has consistently made bad decisions about the roster. Blow it up. On the bright side, the Kansas City Chiefs make then look good. No better time to rebuild than when you probably won't finish last in your division by doing it. Get a fresh face in as Head Coach. Get an innovator in as General Manager. The fans in San Diego are probably high at half the home games. They probably won't notice anyway.
Can't argue with any of that... Complete rebuild from top down, agree they keep Rivers, Matthews has potential, Floyd is a quality WR but Gates is getting old and he’s not been fit for years, always carrying some sort of injury, they need a decent OL and DL, their DBs and Safety’s aren't too bad but they need help by the DEs getting some pressure on the opposition QBs.
I agree. Norv Turner needs to go but AJ Smith is just as harmful. They've become a team that you don't even think of as a threat to get to the playoffs, let alone the SB.
Welcome Wise is arfa man, you are our first Chargers fan, I liked their style back in the 80's, Don "Air" Coryell (have I spelt that right?) certainly lived up to his nickname.
News out of SD today is that both Norv and AJ will be sacked at the end of the season. I'd be celebrating if I was a Chargers fan.
