Chesterfield have extended the loan of Hull City defender Liam Cooper for a further month. The 21-year-old centre-half will now stay with the League Two Spireites until 5 January. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20597354?
Not surprised, he is doing really well and they like him. I think they will try and make it permanent. Though he might not want that.
He almost has to do well there, he refused to go Pompey thus putting Bruce's face out. If Chesterfield put a bid in I could see SB selling him. Add to that the fact we've got Chester, Hobbs, Faye, Bruce, Maccadonna & young Bradley all possible CBs.
I think he would be perfect for that left centre back role we are playing with atm. Certainly don't want to see him leave in the summer!
Scored again at the weekend, against a good Tranmere side, I think unless SB has plans in the team for him.which it doesn't look as if he has, then I would put myself in the shop window at Chesterfield might be his best way of getting better teams seeing what he can do. Thinking of Michael Turner as an example.
I'd have him in our team ahead of Bruce or Mcshane, 21 year old defender with a lot of ability it's a no-brainer. The trouble is his face doesn't fit so the lad will be on his way out, just hope they negotiate a good sell-on clause for him.
Good, I'd rather him be there gaining experience rather than sitting in the reserves here. He looks a great prospect. We may be able to cash in for him for quite some wonga eventually too with him being young. If we could get £300k - £500k for him. It'd be brilliant!
i've said this before but i'll say it again. there will be NO fee or sell on clause, steve bruce will not offer a new contract, thus liam will walk for free in the summer or even january. round of applause for steve i think.
I really am a bit perplexed by the whole Liam Cooper situation. Way back on the old 606 I banged on about how much potential he had, far more than Cairney or Cullen. The way Cullen's career has bombed I was right with him for sure. I still think LC will make the grade as a Championship defender at least and would still say he's got more potential than Cairney. I have watched him very closely whenever he has played and I can't see what he's done wrong. Good luck to the lad whatever happens in his career. I've met him a few times and can tell you he's a real nice kid, there really is no big time Charlie about him that I've seen. All this Bullard influence is a load of bollocks in my humble opinion. It might have been at one point but not now and hasn't been for a long time. Just a decent young bloke and a talent that we should keep hold of. IMO.
Nor do i. Far too many on here think Steve Bruce does not fancy him. No eveidence on that but Cooper needs to play week in and week out @ first team level. He wont get there here at the moment. So its a no brainer that he gets loaned out. Brian Laws is supposed to be keeping tabs on Cooper and may make a kove for him in January. Now Liam Cooper should be playing league one not league two imo. With Faye only here for one season Liam Cooper has every chance of getting a new contract here. For starters he wont cost the earth either and is desperate to play for Hull City. His face fittin gis a bit harsh but Cooper has had issues off the pitch which has not gone down well in the past. No need to keep going on about them, But Liam Cooper needs a season of first team football to show what he can do. To be fair Steve Bruce has watched him or had him watched a few times and must be impressed with how he is doing. Cooper looked very good against Tranmere last weekend by the match reports ive read and scored as well. This is going to be an interesting watch.
