http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/12/03/arsenal-line-up-12m-bid-for-swansea-city-attacker-michu/ hope its not true, if it is i hope we tell them where to shove it
We have to keep him no matter what. I would slap a minimum £20 million price tag on him because that's what he is worth to us. Let's hope it's just rumour but, let's face it, we are going to see a lot of interest in our Choo Choo. I hope he wants to stay with us. He says he's happy and we'll be able to pay him a lot more money next season when we stay up.
Don't worry lads, we're not after him. It's caughtoffside, they're less reliable than our defending. They do it all the time, link us with the guy who just humiliated us.
Hope you are right, Kyle. But it's only a matter of time before the big boys come calling anyway. With luck, he will want to stay with Laudrup for now. Next season perhaps we will be able to offer him serious money to keep him.
Not gonna happen...2 reason why 1. £12million is too cheap for a January purchase of a player who is currently sitting joint top scorer. (Same goals as Van Persie who they sold for TWICE that so think we could hold out for more!) 2. Wenger isnt going to be there in January if Arsenal don't buck up their ideas!!!
It's all very well well wanting £20m+, which I think he is worth, but I assume he has a clause allowing him to move for much less. As we only paid £2m for him, I would be surprised if he has a get out clause for more than £10m. But if Arsenal bid maybe others will and as well, and that could bump the price up. But if we keep losing players of that quality, then we'll never make the top 4. But such is life.
He's not gone and very unlikely to this season. He came here because of Mr Laudrup and at the moment and that may be enough for now ,Enjoy it while we have him for how ever long.We must remember the higher profile we gain the more the so called big boys come sniffing , it's again another example of very poor scouting when we can buy players such as Michu for 2 million and Torres is worth 50 million for example . it does make you think how crazy the market is ,and make no mistake we paid 2 million for him but now expect ££££££££ for him .Thats why one day football in this country will implode
What makes you think he has a get out/ buy out clause. I wouldnt have thought that every single player has it put in their contracts or am i wrong.
Come on guys, enjoy the ride and stop being paranoid. Look at the league table and ask yourself honestly who could give Michu more than the swans? None of the 6 teams above us can offer him a better all round deal than the swans. And why would he go to any of the 85 teams below us in the league...?
Agree with above post...dont panic! Enjoy These times with laudrup and signings, we could have a historic season on our hands and the players have a great chance of silverware this season here. Summer Will be the time to take stock, michu may struggle 2 nd half of season and There Will be zero intrest then, look at cisse at Newcastle as an example,we wont sell him cheap and it may be considered a risk for a club to spend massive money on a player that has had half a good season! Just smile and enjoy the glory for now! We Will create the uncertainty if we keep thinking smalltime swansea !!
Michu likes it here. He likes the club, the area and his Spanish team mates. He is successful, plays every week, knows our system works for him and respects Michael Laudrup (don't we all). If we stay up and offer him an improved contract, I think he'll be happy to stay because there are no guarantees that he'll have all these things with another club. Hopefully, AW will follow up his reported (today's press) interest in Dember Ba who has a £7.5 million buy out clause in his contract and leave Michu with us.
If he ends the season with 20+ goals I'm sure he will be sold with a hefty price tag. Would be nice if he stayed for 2-3 years but that's not realistic. If he goes in the summer then ML can buy Granero, another player of Laudrup from Getafe. QPR will probably be relegated and I doubt Graneros going to stay with them if that happens. I rate Granero very highly, can play everywhere in the midfield, very versatile and I hope ML will get him no matter what happens with Michu.
its called the rumour mill for a reason i think if you pay £10-20m for a player you want to see him do what he's done over at least one full season, ideally 2. in the past we have seen players like amr zaki (who? exactly) come flying out of the blocks then cant hack it in the following season and drift away, michu must carry on this form if he wants to attract a big club.
yes, we have seen cases like demba ba who did well for west ham, then goes to newcastle and carries on that run, so its not an exact science. its best for both the player and club to re evaluate at the end of the season for me
It's unusual in English football to have get-out clauses (the only reason for that one with Ba is because he has knee problems and was on a free transfer, so both sides had reasons to want to cut the contract short before he joined Newcastle- highly unusual). They have them in Spain because they are compulsory, not because players negotiate them into the contract. Of course, there still might be one, but I wouldn't expect it to be as low as £10m and the reason for that is that, I'm not sure whether you are aware, but Michu's professional asset valuation at the time you bought him was around £5.3m. You got him because of Laudrup and you got him so cheap because Rayo Vallecano had to offload players. If he had been bought by a club interested in selling, but not needing to, with a decent amount of time left on the contract, you would have expected a sale price of two to three times the professional asset valuation. If there is a get-out clause, it will be based on this valuation, not the price you paid, and I would be very surprised if it's less than £15m. Hope that's encouraging! In any event, I've no doubt Laudrup would do a very good job with £15m, so if there's no get-out clause even then it might be worth considering
The only way Michu would leave in January is if somebody offered silly money for him an i reckon that's anywhere between 20 -25 million,However the summer time might be a different kettle of fish..
Michu already said he turned down bigger money to play for ML. He also bought shares in his hometown club. I hear reports that he's an all around nice guy and I reckon that he has a special kind of mentality. We were saved by the supporters trust and Michu has done the same for Oveido. There is symmetry between us them and I really think that Michu will see out his contract here. The only issue for me is that I heard rumours of a 2 year deal? This I don't like. Get him on a 5-6 year deal so at least we will benefit from a possible move in the future. for now though (as NJ says) ENJOY! Michu is a Jack and that's a scientific fact.
If he goes then he goes its as simple as that, Its not as if its not happend to us and every other club before. I doubt very much if he will go mid season anyway but i think he will be gone by the start of next season, There is no such thing as "he loves the club or he wants to stay with laudrup or he loves playing with his Spanish mates at all. He will love the money that will be on offer thats what every player loves...I dont blame him for that as i would do the same, we are a stepping stone for any foreign player that wants to prove himself in the premiership and he has certainly done that to date and should he carry on till the end of the season which i hope he does then we will have no chance in keeping him and if that happens then we will just have to move on and find another michu somewhere....Thats football and we will have to accept it....
