Jermaine Defoe is today being linked with newcastle (sorry if this is old news), finally a decent premier league striker who is a realistic target, both newcastle and sunderland are said to be interested, and even though this season he has been poor, i remember last season he was amazing.
he's just the sort of striker we need, small, quick and can finish, imagine him, gremio up front, gervinho (lol) and ben arfa on the wings and tiote and barton in the middle, we would be unstoppable, dont you wish real life was football manager.

Defoe is massively overrated. He's being kept out of the Spurs side by Crouch. Crouch!! I think he's getting on a bit as well. Last year he just hit a purple patch where everything he struck went in, he's not a clinical finisher who'll get you 20 goals he a hit and hope kind of striker like Martins, who'll score spectacular goals now and then.

Agreed, hes only scored like twice in a year from open play (or something outrageous like that).

Pards is hinting at playing one up top as well, and he's not that kind of striker either.

Berbatov would be an awful signing. He's 30, would cost over £10m, astronomical wages and he's ****ing spent. Would've been a decent signing five years ago.

Nah, we already know Nolan will be in the starting line up, so leaving him out is pointless...

We also already know that Ben Arfa is going to play in the whole behind a single striker...

So we need a big, strong striker who can hold the ball up and invite people on to play off him...Defoe is not that player!

I really really do not want a big strong stiker. I'm sick of this target man role. We'll just end up playing hoof ball again.

We just need a brilliant out and out striker who has all the atributes
we don't need another Carroll as we get sucked into playing hoof ball without a plan B and we will get caught out time and time again!

Yep, we'd get the most out of Jonas and Ben Arfa if we have a more skillful/technical striker like Gameiro. We won't have to resort to long balls into the box which, let's face it, is what we pretty much relied on when Carroll was here.
