Well Scott did say it was a rumour and i did the same! nothing wrong with a bit of gossip now and again. we talked about the pro's and cons of it last time and they remain, its plausible (i think he is big mates with pablo from their Velencia days) the Laudrup/Barca connection is a valid reason, Laudrup could be given remote control of some Barca players to see how he does, i think people high up at Barca see Laudrup as a long term prospect,nothing wrong with having a look at how he does with a few sharper tools at his disposal!! especially as Barca always end up playing Prem opposition. Using a spratt to catch a mackerel i think they call it !! Villa needs some games but as Barca are doing so well maybe they dont want to throw him in and unbalance a winning team, think he played in a cup game the other night, but lacks fitness apparently. Maybe he heard the Gower is very nice this time of year with all the cold,rain and ice!! He also might have heard about Joe's ice cream and decided to sample a bit of that and combine it with a La liga team playing prem football On the other hand it may well just be a rumour ...
Villa would be great...... but stop and think. If he's being sent to us to get match fit, do we want him? The Premier League is no place to play to get fit. It's the other way round, you have to be fit to play in the Premier League. Villa would be a huge asset for us if they are talking about match sharpness as opposed to fitness. But, a short term loan would be useless. He would be off just as he was getting up to speed and we would be left trying to fill a huge gap. If we can have him for several months, it's a good idea but otherwise I don't fancy the idea. Too disruptive.
A half fit David villa is probably better than what we already have here! ... Im not say this will happen but it is lottery number possible! he has been playing games for Barca from what ive seen but is not a regular there,im guessing its probably match sharpness he is missing more than anything else, match fitness can be gained after 3/4 games getting his eye back in may perhaps take hi longer, i guess it depends on his rehab, i would presume that would be 100% letter of the law unlike Bodde !! Even if the guy is not fit he would be the perfrect decoy for Michu and pablo, opposition defenders will be playing against the name on the shirt for the first month anyway and they would probably be worried about getting turned inside out. The fact that this rumour was able to surface at all tells you how far we have come these last years doesnt it, remember when rumours used to be rife of us getting a Man utd 3rd team youngster on loan or someone from Fulham reserves !! There are probably millions of reasons as to why it would not be possible for a player like that to come to little old Swansea but there is a fraction of a fraction of a chance and thats good enough for me on a Monday evening Dream the dream boys, with Laudrup at the helm anything seems possible at the moment !!

However - if someone of his stature did come, surely it would make other players take us very seriously as if having ML here isn't enough of a pull anyway. If he got us further up the table then the prize money would be bigger thus allowing us to be in the market for a more expensive player - not that it guarantees anything - look at the cost of Michu. Am I talking myself out of my opening response ?

Stereo - Yes you are mate!! i do it all the time, normally in the same paragraph... I think a couple of loan players will always be essential for us TBH, i dont think we have the budget to keep top quality players on big wages if they dont work out, you only need one or two transfer mistakes and your ****ed!! Remember Jimmy Bullard at Hull ?? i think that ****er almost bankrupted them didnt he? if you think about the likes of mark gower at the moment, it doesnt look like he is that fussed in finding first team football elsewhere, seems like he is happy picking up prem wages and doing **** all, we couldnt risk having too many of those on our books so a couple of loans does soften the risk,even though we do end up polishing them up for someone else

I would say a quarter fit Villa is better than any strikers (that doesn't include Michu by the way) we have. Also as Stereo says the higher up we finish, the more worth while a loan like this becomes. He could be our missing link.
