The thing i still don't get is that people cvan opt out of these stupid chants, but why then do they opt out of the ones that are actually worth singing?
you can't fake it can you?.. let's not pretend Burnley at home for example is exciting.. the atmosphere was at it's best when Marney started being a little so and so.. i.e something was actually happening. Nearly all home grounds for me are pretty sterile these days unless it's a big fixture.. I bet you can hear a pin drop at Stoke Wigan despite what the media tell us.. However, in saying all that.. the next 3 home games I can't wait for.. recent 'history' shall we say with all 3 who will all bring a decent following.. can see the atmosphere, especially if it's going well on the pitch being electric.
Bring back unreserved seating even if its only a couple of blocks in each stand. How many on here meet up with there mates in pub only to go their seperate ways once they get to the kc.
This annoys me too, why woul dyou be faking it?! Jesus, this is exactly what i am getting at, if the teamis off par we should do our best to motivate them. Like the team do when they play well, we respond, if we sing well they may respond. Regardless of what game it is we should give it our best to motivate the team. As we have seen over the past couple of years, those non exciting fixtures like peterborough, donacster, burnley are all agmes that we have failed to win in? I am not saying that if the tiger nation was singing we would of won, but it may of helped to turn the results around...results that may have ultimately cost us.
This is definitely it. A few times over the last couple of years we've had a good half of football and the crowd has loved it and responded, but it's never developed into a proper run of results where you go to games expecting to win and to be entertained. Not since the early PL days has that been a reality. That's what excites football fans and that's what you sing about. At away games it's a bit different but at the KC it just depends on either an entertaining or succesful performance, or for some **** to wind us up a la Marney.
i think many have moved on........ i sometimes see a few 'old' faces at away matches, but rarely at home. Bring back the Broad Highway Clockwork boys from the seventies. Love live the BHC!
Not sure if it would help, but in Sweden it's usually 1-2 "organizers" in front of the main stand (Usally one stand where most of the singing is) who starts the songs. When the main stand get's going, it usally catches on around the whole stadium. But in general it's more crowd activities during Swedish games with different kind of tifos, etc, even if the game is ****. Not the same historical background with stuff like that here though from what I can tell.
im not a terrace singer , but wouldnt it make more sense and be easier to organise and happen more spontaneously if we had both ends .Also as the North is smallest it would be easier to fill with likeminded supporters . put away fans in the south West Lower - to encourage more vocal banter from the south stand (which at BP was really good) I understand the current design of the KC may require some work to be carried out so stewards can segregate when they feel the urge .
This will never ever happen, the KC was designed to be so that the away fans could be ushered in and out of the ground without city fans mingling with them. I like the idea of having a 'kop' kind of stand, maybe the south could be transformed into it, although by doing that the banter between the away fans may be lost.
If the idea is for fans not to mingle, why do you encounter away fans coming the other way around the West Stand, after being made to walk all the way around the stadium because of the barrier at the North East corner in order to get to the car park. It doesn't stop fans encountering each other but let's the police indulge in their favourite pastime of inconveniencing you and generally treating you like you are a lower form of life because you are a football fan. They could easily keep the away fans in for a few minutes, as often happened to us, whilst the area is cleared but that would be too much trouble for them. The KC was badly designed by some idealist not living in the real world with a concourse all the way around originally with no thought to segregation and when the need did arise for segregation crowds were lower than they could ha e been as you couldn't match up areas of seats to exits and toilets. A prime example was the Swansea game with thousands not able to get in but inside there were 2,000 empty seats. Other clubs can get within 100 of their capacity with on problems. Apparently a proposal to house away fans in the West Upper was scuppered by council jobsworths saying it was too dangerous as it was so steep that if anyone stood up and surged forward they could fall over the top. Well, make them sit down or stop being stupid and take. Look at some foreign grounds which are far steeper and manage with no problems whatsoever. The fact our ground is owned by the council and therefore they have more of a say in matters will always hold us back in these things as they are clueless in these matter. Originally the KC was going to have towers like those at Man City's stadium but they were deemed too dangerous for us people in Hull but don't seem to have encountered problems with bigger crowds in Manchester.
Yeah and something always seems to kick off there whenever we go there. First it was the locals with themselves and then the locals lobbing stones over a fence. Seriously though, they weren't renowned for anything Stoke until they got promoted. Their ground was half empty most of the time- they were getting even worse than we are now. There's nowt special there, it's the Stokies enjoying their success.
This, massively. I genuinely never, ever heard anyone in the media or otherwise say Stoke fans were loud until their promotion season. I remember going to 'The Brit' when Myhill saved 2 pens and The Beast ripped them a new arse and not only was it a third full it was deathly quiet.
britannia has two comedy dancing cows at half time though. i also remember the match when bo saved two pens and they ended up fighting with each other at the opposite end. oh why why why..........
