You're right, it's not good enough. We need to strengthen this squad, but we might not be able to do it all in January
It's not good enough, and someone needs to be punished, you can't keep doing bad with no punishment, Wenger's had enough time, it's time for a change. In any job, when you're under performing and continually do worse, it's time to change. We are doing worse this season, then last, it's time to change, things just aren't getting done with Wenger, we need a new manager to brighten things up, a fresh start. This club is in bad need of something new and fresh, Wenger had his day.
Unless the board change their policies on spending, then any manager coming in is going to have the same constraints as Wenger
Wenger has spent over 100 million in the last 3 seasons, money ain't the issue, HE IS. He's the one spending money on average players like Gervino, Santos, and the one who persists in playing average players like Ramsey. You telling me for 10 million, we couldn't find a better player than Gervinho? You telling me for 16.5 million, the combined price of Gervinho and Santos, that we couldn't buy a player better than both of them? It's Wenger's who's the problem, he buys **** players, simple as that. ****ing hell, Squilachi, there's another one for you, Wenger's lost the plot in transfer dealings.
Next game: Home to WBA. From what I heard the crowd was awful, hopefully they get behind the lads then. We need to rest people too. We need to play faster and more energetically. If we do all those I'm sure we can beat WBA.
If I recall Santos was getting plaudits in his 1st season. Gervihno was decent up until AFCON but has faded ever since.
Squillaci was a regular for France and playing champions league football for Sevilla, so nobody really knew he'd turn out to be a turkey. Santos was a cheap buy, if we'd had proper money we could have brought a proper LB. Gervinho, if he finds his shooting boots is worth every penny of £10m And of course you forget about Arteta and Cazorla, both brought in for bargain prices, a stroke of Wenger genius. Plus then there's the youth players he's bringing through the ranks, Wilshere, Szczesny, Jenkinson . . . Our squad needs some additions, but that's up to the board to make the funds available for the manager
Gervino was 'decent', he was never anything special even before the AFCON. Gervinho, Santos, Ramsey, and many other players at this club, are merely 'decent' players, not world class quality to help us be where we should be. None of these players would play at ANY other world class club, not a single one of them.
The problem is, there were always other better alternatives than the ones we got, players like Squilachi, were the cheap alternative to the main players, like a Cahill, we didn't get him or Jageilka who we were also interested, but got Squilachi instead, that's inexcusable.
Ramesy is still 20s FFS and he was the captain of Wales. Santos was brought in as backup, nothing more nothing less.
I don't care if he's 20, or 30, he's still an average player, many other big clubs have young players who are top quality. Look at Wilshere, he ain't even 20, and look how good he plays, age is no longer an excuse, 20-21 year olds these days are no longer youngsters like 5 years ago.
Look in my eyes, and many others, the following players are merely average-decent-good, nothing world class: -Gervinho -Ramsey -Santos -Giroud -Podolski -Arshavin -Squilachi -Chamakh Players like Jenkinson, OXO, Gibbs still have to prove themselves, you can't make any proper assessment on them. Then we have players, who can be excellent, but are also at a lot of times, below par and just good-decent, among these are: -Walcott -Arteta -Vermaelen The only out and out true world class players I think we have are Wilshere, and Cazorla, and I'd add Mertesacker as a consistent top quality performing player for us, along Sagna.
