Thanks for the link 58 He's another, like Briggs and Kasami, that I would love to see succeed here, but I feel more than enough time has passed since he shone in the absence of Schwarzer. With Etheridge in reserve too, I think this may be his final loan spell before he leaves permanently. Would do a cracking job for a Championship team and perhaps a PL team fighting relegation.
David Stockdale had an excellent game to help Hull hols high flyers 0-0 tonight. He was critically called on late in the game : Good to see Dikgacoi doing well too. Hull stay in 6th position and Crystal Palace in 2nd.
Having completed a succesfull loan spell with Kidderminster, where he played a total fo 12 games, Richard Peniket has been recalled. Right at the moment the U21s could do with him, so it's a sensible move by the Club. http://www.bluesqfootball.com/story/0,20970,13040_8295198,00.html
Our 'forgotten' man on loan, Corey Ganeiro, had an assist in the goal which gave his team Eindhoven a 1-1 draw away to Fortuna Sittard tonight. please log in to view this image
Looks like Fulham may not want Trotta cup tied as he was not in the Brentford team for the 1-1 draw away at Bradford tonight
I have to say from what I've seen, Briggs hasn't been the same player for Bristol city since his loan spell, just can't figure out what it is
Saturday 1st December A number of our players have been recalled, but there's still quite a few out on loan. David Stockdale had another strong game (and managed to get himself booked) as Hull held on to beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 away from home http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20474601 Lauri Dalla Valle had a chance to get the equaliser but unfortunately his header went wide and Crewe Alexandria were knocked out of the FA Cup by Burton Albion (0-1) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20474827 Marcus Bettinelli’s Dartford went down 3-2 away to Tamworth http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20474784 Jesse Jorenen’s Maidenhead United went down 1-0 at home to the Conference South league leaders, Salisbury Alec Smith’s Leyton Orient play Alfreton the second round of the FA Cup tomorrow (Sunday 2nd December) Dan Burn’s Yeovil didn’t play today - their next game is at home to Wycombe on Tuesday As SuperBri said, Marcello Trotta didn’t play in Brentford’s 1-1 draw away to Bradford in the FA Cup 2nd round.
Alec played 87 minutes in Orient's 4-2 win over Alfreston this afternoon. Up next is David Stockdale's Hull (always asssuming we allow DS not to be cup tied !).
Tuesday 4th December A couple of our loan players were in action tonight - Lauri Dalla Valle scored the first in a penalty shoot out to help his club win a Football League Trophy quarter final tie. In an eventful match Crewe Alexandra had a man sent off 5 minutes from time and then conceded a last last minute equaliser to Doncaster. They went through 5-3 on penalties. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20506758 Marcus Bettinelli travelled with Dartford to Nuneaton but lost out to the only goal of the game, scored on the stroke of half time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20506710
Marcello Trotta's loan deal has been extended until 13th January. I wonder if there's any coincidence in this and Brentford being allowed into the FA Cup 3rd round by default - Bradford, who beat them in the 2nd round have been chucked out for fielding an ineligible player. http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/article/bradford-out-of-fa-cup-530708.aspx
Saturday 8th December The lads out on loan had a pretty successful time today - well most of them: Marcello Trotta had an assist in Brentford’s second goal as they won 3-2 over MK Dons http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20564602 David Stockdale had a stormer as Hull beat Watford 2-1 away from home. You can see why Bruce wants to sign him permanently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20564877 Dan Burn had a solid game (and nearly scored with a second half header) in Yeovil’s 0-0 home draw against Notts County. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20564665 Alec Smith (No. 27 - there are two Smiths in the team) came on as a very late sub in Leyton Orient’s 2-0 win away to Bury. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20564933 Marcus Betinelli had some fine saves but couldn’t prevent Dartford being thumped 4-2 by Lincoln City at home. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20564905 Jesse Jorenen’s Maidenhead went down 2-1 to Eastbourne having led 1-0 at half time. Lauri Dalla Valle didn’t play in Crewe’s 3-1 win away to Preston.
Here is a slightly more detailed round-up from the Club on how the guys on loan got on at the weekend - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/december/10/loan-round-up
Lauri Dalla Valle who missed Crewe Alex's league game at the weekend with a foot injury, has had his loan spell with them extended till 8th January. With Crewe out of the FA Cup, this is presumably to help them to progress in the Johnson's Paint Trophy and build on their recent run of form since he joined. http://www.crewealex.net/news/article/dalla-valle-extends-loan-535883.aspx?pageView=full Edit: And here is what Lauri said -
Saturday 15th December The lads out on loan, who played, had a pretty good day - A quiet day for David Stockdale as Hull dominated their home game against Huddersfield. The 2-0 score line, especially since the second came in the 90th minute doesnât reflect Hullâs dominance. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20650326 Although not scoring, Marcello Trotta played his part with an assist for Brentfordâs late winner in their 2-1 win away to Notts County. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20650354 Lauri Dalla Valle was subbed after 80 minutes with the score at 0-0. Crewe Alexandra went on to win their home game 1-0 against Bury,, the winning goal again being last minute. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20650204 Yet another last minute goal saw Dan Burnsâ Yeovil Town grab an equaliser in their 2-2 draw away to Walsall, coming back from being 2-0 down. Dan, who managed to get himself booked again, had a very decent game. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20650134 Alex Smith was probably happy to sit this one out (on the bench) as Leyton Orient lost their eight game unbeaten record, 3-1 at home to Scun thorpe. Marcus Bettinelliâs Dartford had a 3-0 win over Tonbridge Angels in an FA Trophy 2nd round tie. [Have no idea however, whether Marcus played or even if it was appropriate for him to play.] Jess Jorenenâs Maidstone Townâs match against Halifax Town was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
David Stockdale Read into it what you will, but Jol has given Stockdale indefinite leave to remain at Hull. Today he told the Fulham Chronicle :
Marcello Trotta scored twice and had one assist in Brentford's 4-2 win in the re-arranged FA Cup tie. please log in to view this image His first was a penalty right on half time, after he had been brought down in the box to make it 1-1. His second, a tap-in, was again an equaliser to make it 2-2 in extra time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20710465 That's him cup tied then - although his loan had anyway been extended beyond the 3rd round dates. Brentford are away to Southend. Can see TMHAF getting to Griffin Park yet.
Really wouldn't blame Stockdale if he left permanently, actually would maybe criticise him if he stayed. What an awful thing for Jol to say. Schwarzer has been below par this season, yet will remain number one barring an injury. What sort of motivation is that to Stockdale? Schwarzer has absolutely no threat to his jersey, so how is he going to improve his game?
Although Schwarzer hasn't been his usual self, I think he's enough of a professional (actually, from what I can see he's a fantastic professional) to not relax because he thinks his place is safe. One of the things that has always struck me about him during his warm ups is just how noticeable it is that he absolutely hates making mistakes, even before the match - it's written all over his face. It's arguable (and I suggested it elsewhere) that the problem is age catching up with him, which is a different matter. If, on the other hand, this is just a blip of form, Schwarzer is more than capable of addressing it whether or not he feels someone is breathing down his neck. What Jol is doing is publically supporting his number one keeper and sending the message that he trusts him. If Jol doesn't intend to replace MS immediately, it's good man-management in my book. It also sends the message to Etheridge that he's trusted as the immediate back-up. As for Stockdale, if he has an extended first team run at Hull and does well, maybe Jol decides to give him his chance here after the summer. Alternatively, if Schwarzer doesn't improve Jol hasn't closed the door on recalling him from his loan early and playing him. Win-win. I'm still hoping that Stockdale will get his chance with us and fulfil the potential we all saw a couple of years ago. I don't think his last spell replacing Schwarzer did him any favours though.
...Then again, a Hull fan has posted in another thread, we've now recalled Stockdale. Interesting. http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/december/19/stockdale-recalled
Sorry Captain I didn't read this until after I'd posted the link in the other thread. Don't think Stockdale is too happy. He sent a tweet saying, "Think my head is going to explode very soon!!!"
