Our support last night was truly brilliant. There were the normal chants of course and being against our local rivals a decibel or more higher - "There's only One Team in Fulham" in the last ten minutes must surely have resounded right across the Borough. The 'banter' was escalated as well and highlighted in a the Telegraph's report of the game - The best however was the one 5 minutes from the end as droves of Chelsea fans deserted the ground. To put it in context, about 15 minutes before the start of the games there was an announcement that the fire alarm would go off but it was only a fire drill and not to evacuate the ground. So, in those last minutes as Chelsea fans left, the chant went up - "Is there a fire drill?" Yes, truly magnificent and I'm sure appreciated by Jol and the team. COYW PS I won't mention where Chelsea were told to 'Put The Blue Flag ..'
I was watching the game on the internet and I could only hear our fans... Amazing presence. So unlucky not to enjoy a goal in the second half.
The fans that were there were immense. So loud and vocal. Terrific stuff. Of course they didn't need the Fulham away fans wheelbarrow to take them as it was just down the road. I read the Telepgraph report before seeing this thread and I laughed out loud, a really good match report. These made me chuckle too: The main f-word heard was “Fulham, Fulham Torres’ shot travelled between the legs of Hughes. On it went, as Chelsea fans in the Shed stood in hope. Then Mark Schwarzer dropped calmly to his knees and gathered the ball. Hope died. Chelsea supporters sighed as their Fulham counterparts chuckled.
I was listening via the BBC Final Score midweek program and all the commentor was going on about was how quiet the ground was for a Derby game. Lawro then referred to it as the middle class derby. What an absolute berk.
Steve Sidwell (no less) tweeted yesterday that the "Is there a Fire Drill?" chant was the talk of the away dressing room after the game! Nice to know the players heard it and nice of him to let us know it was appreciated.
I don't think his passion has ever been brought into question, rather his actual footballing ability.
I don't know - I see that the Spanish Steve Sidwell was nominated for Baloon D'or this week alongside Messi and Ronaldo.
On players showing appreciation, worth mentioning Philippe Senderos - he is always the first to go to the Fulham fans at the end of a game and is really enthusiastic in acknowledging us.
Just to cheer us all up a little bit - "There's Only One Team in Fulham" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-rnAn0rabY
