It was certainly dire on the pitch, but I thought off it was all right. I like the fact that there's a pub for each stand(the only ground with a pub in each corner apparently) and the locals were friendly enough. There didn't seem to be that many of us there though.
bit unrelated - Status Quo bassist John Edwards is a Bees fan.. saw them in concert recently and from the first row I noticed a sticker on the back of his guitar 'Brentford FC'
For anyone interested, the following facts were posted on the LUFC official site today: - Average League away attendance: 3,360 - Total League away attendance: 73,937 - Two away allocations not sold out: Swansea (televized lunchtime kickoff; sold 3,000 of a 3,100 allocation) and Crystal Palace (5,700 allocation; sold 5,300) That means we're the best supported club in the Football League home and away.
There's no knocking your away support, it's definitely by far the best travelling support in the league, but considering the size of Leeds, your home support is ****ing embarrassing.
The ticket prices are ****ing embarrassing. How many ST holders have Hull got? I'll bet my left bollock on it being more than the 12,000 we have at Elland Road.
I'll also wager important body parts on your season and single match tickets being a lot cheaper than ours. Our cheapest season ticket this season was (I think) ã550, next year it's expected to be over ã600. Top quartile of the Premiership prices. You can't expect people to pay that for upper midtable Championship football.
ã340 to ã440 for standard season tickets, depending on where you sit(ã25 match day tickets), they were the same when we were in the Premier League(our new owner wants to reduce prices dramatically, with the aim of filling a 35-40,000 seat stadium every week). At least you don't support Arsenal ã800-ã925 for their season tickets next season.
Irrespective of that, do you not find it unusual that despite having bigger crowds than us we have more season ticket holders? Whatever club it's at the season ticket option is cheaper than pay on the day so you'd expect the proportion of fans that have them to be the same. Are your tickets not very good value compared to pay on the day prices?
I think what tends to happen is season tickets are so expensive that those who would have got one if they were cheaper just end up going to 10-15 games instead (which costs ã250-350). There's no long-term incentive to be a loyal fan. And I don't find it that unusual, Norwich have about 20,000 season ticket holders, don't they? We could easy get that many but Ken Bates never favours fans over profit. Forcing many to buy individual match tickets (ã25-35) ultimately earns him more than having discounted season tickets and a guaranteed following every week.
My Brentford phrasing had all the precision of Kilbane's passing that day - I love the ground. That day was dire on the pitch, very very quiet in the away end but the ground is indeed a good one for the reasons you give and that it is where grounds should be, right in amongst it's supporters' houses AND most of all it holds one of my fondest memories - in a packed and exuberant away end to see City win 2-0 and come off the bottom of Division 3. Prolonged singing of the simple but sweet "We are ninety first, we are ninety first".
Now you've put the matchday prices on it makes more sense. Ours pay for themselves after 14 or 15 games where yours need nearer to 20.

hello and thank you, figures found here: http://www.thefootballforum.net/index.php?/topic/189817-away-support-20102011/page__st__1860
Ah, thanks. That's some commitment compiling all those figures, would save a whole lot of hassle if the FL just released them (what harm can it seriously do?!) As you might see from page one of this thread, I emailed them and they suggested emailing every individual club if I wanted to get the figures. Nice to see we're comfortably in the lead anyhow, no doubt West Ham will be up there as well next season.
