If they miked the refs, we'd know why they gave the fouls and free kicks in the first place. You'd also not get (unfounded, as it turned out) complaints of racist language.
unfortunately i missed the game but saw motd & highlites on saints player. norwich looked as though they had a very physical & niggly game plan & it worked. and i'm not blaming them for that, actually opposite. reading the threads, i'd have to comment saints fans are usally pretty good at putting both sides to the arguement but whats obvious here is virtually everyone thinks clattenburg had a stinker. personally i dont think he's very good regardless & wed didnt help either. my biggest gripe was the double handed push by holt in the back of fonte secs earlier before rickies "handball". i would have been fumming if the goal wasn't given & the push had been missed.
Not sure we really want to hear everything that is said on the pitch, though recording would protect the refs. Getting the refs reason won't really help...if the fans think otherwise. It's use in Rugby is because infringements can be invisible to the crowd and it is informative and everyone (player and fans) just accept it because the ref had a better view than them. Anyway do you really think you'd hear what the ref said above 30,000 fans giving their opinion? Mike recordings to protect the ref (but sad it is necessary) but no need for general transmission.
I was sitting in line with that and Snodgrass was all over the back of shaw pulling him back and he wasn't touched. I also found Norwich knew that they were strong from set pieces so you tried to fall over a lot around the box.
Fran, what people "see" depends in part on what they know. Some people "see" an old china plate, others "see" a valuable piece of Meissen. An "invisible to the crowd" infringement may be in full view of everyone watching, but still not be "seen". The greatest need is for us terrace pundits (and in most cases media pundits, and even some managers and players) to be educated in the rules and their proper interpretation. But it would help if people just understood how little they actually know when it comes to properly refereeing a game.
clattenburg had an absolute 'mare, as did his assistants. they didn't get much right all night. it was EMBARRASSING.
I think both teams had a worse game than the referee. Both were awful, no quality, no attempt to play football, dreadful. I think fans should perhaps look at there own players as opposed to blaming referees. Terrible game.
We can say what we want about Clattenburg but what I've just seen proves that he is a very good referee. Top decision not to award a free kick and red card for challenge on Giroud.
Yeah, thought he did well. Still think the Torres sending off was wrong, but theres a lot of water under that bridge now.
