Possibilities: Martinez - won't leave Wigan and still not sure if he could take the pressure Di Matteo - same tactics as o'neill, but with worse players Solskjaer - possibly Di Canio - wild card Curbishley - past it Gary Neville- plaudit Klinsmann - hmm? Bob Bradley - hmm? Poyet - lower league level Shearer - pah Sven Goran Erikson - **** right off when we replaced Reid and brought in a young up and coming manager alongside ****o, remember what happened....careful what you wish for coz if a new bloke comes in and results remain ****, it won't be long before the poor ****er gets tossed out of the frying pan. unless of course we are so abject at that poin that it simply couldn't get any worse.......
NMG would be apoplectic if Shearer became you manager. Would be hilarious to see his breakdown on here.
I'm afraid the game has changed with all the money and TV camera's these days. Not only young kids are impatient but grown men 40 years of age are bleeting on. What I find amazing is that a large number of fans spend more time cursing and worrying about football than actually enjoying the adventure. They even pay for this worry and stress! I might walk into the chemist and ask if I can buy a season ticket of worry and stress please! Yes Sir, certainly, just hand me over the £400 and I will give you just the tablets you need to experience nothing but worry, stress, frustration and arguements with everybody around you! Superb deal, a real bargain!
I think this is the best argument for keeping MON you can make................some of the managers listed would not come to us an the ones that would come are the ones that would leave us in a worse mess than MON ever would.
You may well be right marra but then again..............................................................
Motes is going to Man U though and wouldn't touch us with a barge pole. Look how quick the fans have turned on a Sunderland fan. Less than a year and they want him out. How long would Martinez get? If he didn't fix things in 3 months I reckon the same people would turn on him. Who would be given time to get things right? We played well 4 from the last 5. It's a results game yes? Agreed but I don't think getting rid of the manager would help. We need something but I think it's Robertson not a new manager. That'd bring a totally different way of doing things IMO. New manager would get 5 minutes to succeed or fans would be on his back just like they have with o'neill. Fickle fans in the North East
Forget about Robbo mate, he's got family problems & doesn't want to be back in football. It's a non starter.
The problem is for me, MON came with a lot of reputation and a lot of expectation from a lot of fans, The other managers we have had in the past, apart from funnily enough MCnenamy and Wilkinson who had done things previously, but they failed miserably for us. Keane was a rookie manager Bruce hadnt really done anything of note Reid hadnt MCarthy Ireland in the World cup but that was about it We get managers with what seems really good pedigree even though in hindsight they were terrible, and it all comes crashing down around their ears. thats not to say I want MON out, but it is looking like a slippery slope atm, lets just hope he can turn it around. but how long can we afford to wait?
MoN till the end of the season at least. He has another transfer window to improve the shower of ****e I watched last night, 90% of which he has inherited from Bruce's term. Its not good right now and god knows last night was absolutely dire but I'm still very much prepared to stick with the man in charge as a 6th manager in 6 years would be farcical and there are no guarantees ANY of the above list would do any better with this set of bell end players. Give O'Neill a chance to turn it round and maybe Robertson will answer his old mates call and come here after January to see the season out, now he is in a bit of trouble.
Robertsons son is in College/uni where they live so he doesnt want to have to uproot his family and move up here, he also did not like the last year at Villa so that has put him off. I believe its a none starter and wishful thinking that he will come.
Which means he is 18 - 21 years old? Bit old for being tied to him that? I think he may come to his old gaffers aid after the new year, even for a short term deal until May and not have to uproot.
if its college it could be 16-18 but even if its Uni the kid will be a lot better off living at home than moving out. at the end of the day though its up to him, non starter for me though for him specifically.
Sorry to intrude lads but a point has just been raised on our board. With both Pardew and O'Neill treading water at the moment, do you think if we sacked Pardew it may force Ellis' hand and result in O'neill getting this push too? As in we're both going to be looking to attract a similar kind of manager, Martinez is my choice for us and I've seen him mentioned a few times on here too.
Martinez would be my choice as well mate. I honestly dont think Short is even considering sacking MON yet.
Neither will be getting Martinez mate, he turned down Liverpool. And that is without even mentioning Ashleys relationship with Whelan
