What a bloody awful performance. Strolled to a 2-0 lead and then just went to sleep for the rest of the game. Rubbish. We need to sort out a system that works well consistently when Adebayor's out. We don't have one at the moment. Beat the Scouse, go above the Goons and the other Scouse, plus close in on West Brom, but I'm still not happy.
To be fair, it's not bad luck if you get an own goal and don't put your other chances away. It's poor finishing but we were lucky they weren't up to converting their chances
You could look at the league and talk about how many leads we have thrown away but on the flip side how many matches have we been holding on like that? Still if you told me we would be 3 points off 3rd at this time I would have bitten your hand off.
When we're under pressure like that, Defoe doesn't provide any sort of outlet which we need. I'm thankful for his goals this season, but there may well be other matches like this and we can't rely on the opposition missing all their chances. We have a good chance of going third in the next couple of matches. Well,that was better for us than Liverpool and I don't mean because they lost but because they didn't score,we did it for them. So where are their goals going to come from? Not that I'm concerned mind. That was too close and we all agree there's more work to be done. Sounds like 'pool were unlucky. According to BBC, they had 12 corners to our 1, more shots on target and more possession. Thankfully the most important stat was on our side
