Gay Future was "played" by a horse called Joint Venture. It must have been a better actor than racer, as I can find no racecourse form at all
One of the funniest things I have read from a racing journalist was when David Ashforth claimed to have spotted that the trainer of Gay Future had entered horses in the south miles from his yard. I find it very hard to believe Ashforth scoured the jumps meetings on that bank holiday morning and spotted that. I bet he had never even heard of the trainer let alone knew where he trained!
