Almost certainly ! We've lost Clattermole and our centre midfield is crap anyway. We need all the help we can get at the moment ! ! !
I watched th game against QPR and this is the worst Sunderland team I have ever seen - and I go back to the 60's when I watched them at Roker Park. (What a team they had then). What the Hell Martin O'Neill is trying to achieve with this bunch of no-hopers I do not know. He will probably want Elmo back or double his asking fee in January.
If they do want him back, they'll have to wait a while, they can't recall a loan during the first 28 days. Whatever happens, he'll be here for the Forest game on Saturday, though they could recall him before Watford game if they wanted. Unless we paid a loan fee, in which case they can't recall him at all(but I doubt we did).
hopefully he is absolutely awful!!!! hes 6 foot something and just dives all the time whenever anyone is near him, hes sh*t
It's too early to say he is awful, but I can see what you mean. He is a proper jessie the way he goes down and I'd be moaning like hell if he was doing it against us.
Meyler played some good stuff last night, particularly when you bear in mind how long he's been out, but he does spend an awful lot of time on his arse.
The reason he goes down a lot is that his position (central midfield) requires his to change direction quickly and to tackle others with the ball or fend off tackles whilst in possession whilst doing so. Because he is 6'3", he has a much higher centre of gravity, meaning he will get knocked off balance easier than a shorter player. Unlike centre backs who tend to have to move in a linear manner or other shorter midfielders, these two factors will inevitably mean he will lose his balance more often. Olofinjana stays on his feet more because he pulls out of tackles more. All that being said his size is useful aerially and psychologically in midfield.
As I've said, we need Meyler and Elmo back, they can't be any worse than the crap we're playing at the moment ! I think MON is trying to get Bobby Kerr, Billy Hughes, Charlie Hurley and Stan Anderson back as well !!!!!!!
Elmo will be devastated if he has to go back i bet, from playing in a really good side to one of the worst in the Prem.
The only player I'd least like to see leave in January than Elmo is Aluko. We really would be alot worse without him, his movement and service down the right is unbelievably good and it's astonishing we haven't scored a damn sight more goals from it. Yeah we've got Rosey but he just can't deliver a ball the same, or beat a man so easily from a still standing position to even get the chance to put the ball in.
I can not see us going up if we lose Elmo and Meyler. There is a chance we lose Aluko for a month, we need to sign stockdale, and we need to sign at least one striker possibly two. Now toss both Elmo and Meylers position into that list and I dont think we have the team. What are the chances that we can fill all those spots in January?
