Who would of thought that doubling up on top quality keepers would prove to be a masterstroke? It payed dividends tonight. That could of been a catostrophic result if it were not for Rob Green. Kudos to the fella, he was brilliant when called upon.
I still miss Paddy Kenny and his parties, bringing the vodka and the char....ah feck him. Cesar and Green for me.
Groin strain just before half time. Sunderland fans were going mad as we didn't give them the ball back from a stop in play for Mbia. Cesar just stood on the ball for virtually the full last minute of the first half.
He was excellent and put his head in where it could have got kicked off. I think a lot of us were ****ting bricks when he stayed down thinking we might have an outfield player in goal. I didnt detect any nervousness from him which which was great. You just have to look at the Sunderland crowd to see how nervousness feeds the crowds boos which then makes them more nervous. I think that crowd was the worst Ive ever heard, all boos and howls of derision and no support at all. I did like Cesar keeping the ball for about a minute before HT, I thought it was odd as we didnt time waste at all.
Yeah I agree, the striker situation he left us with, was genius as well (If you look at it from the right angle....while on acid)
Rob Green's efforts last night will instill a lot of confidence in the defence. With Cesar being out that can only be a good thing. We just need to sort out the attack side of things now, which Harry will do.
