You have to start somewhere. We have won twice in a midweek game in the last 12 months, and the weather was nasty. We were playing a team that had beaten us on the last 4 occassions. Didn't think 17,700 was too bad. I would now expect 25,000 crowds at weekend games.
I tend to agree with YWBK (I know I can't talk, haven't attended a game in a very long time) but people were using the excuse of Bates, even at the weekend it wasn't a huge crowd. Anyway, huge win. That leaves me feeling more optimistic now, our arguably two hardest games in a row and we win em both
When those ridiculous prices come down, and there is some serious wooing of the fans, we will start to get crowds up. Until then, don't expect any change. They have to talk to the fans and get them onside first. Most people left because of prices, and they have not changed,. so don't expect any change until that happens and the new owners show they are not Ken Bates in disguise. As for AKCJ and his moaning, we sounded like we snuffed them out pretty good tonight and we scored while they didn't, which is all that matters. Another great 3 points and the team looking like they really did only need that boost of a couple of players and the effective removal of Bates from the long term picture - onwards and upwards, we march on. We are now safely away from the relegation spots, and have the chance to go on a run.
Enjoyed the match tonight. Everyone played well, and Becchio probably played his best game in a few years. Did no end of running about, and relished having 3 up front instead of just him. Byram had Dyer in his pocket. Now making a habit of this. Yee-ha!! Paddy didn't have much to do. Defence was fairly solid, and Lees probably had his best game at CB. Best thing about the defence was that Tate was talking them though it - alway organising, cajoling & encouraging. Playing like a captain, tbh! I though Thomas was a little more subdued than he was on Saturday, and seemed to tire as half time approached. Still a threat, though, and a very welcome addition. Lots of passing & ball on the deck again. Only saw hoofball when paddy was kicking a clearance. It's great to be excited at Elland Road again. So we've started Palarse's bad run, and hopefully Lesta's too. Not so sure if we can do the same to Udders, as we'll almost certainly not play 4-3-3. Think we'll probably shut up shop again. Then again, looks like Grayson has started his traditional post-Xmas slump a bit earlier than usual, so we might be in with a chance!
We lost, do you expect me to be head over heels? I'm just moaning about how we're lacking that edge that'll see us into the top 2. Nothing against you lot, you should be alright.
Those are all very positive signs Whitejock, if we can start to put a run together it may well not be too late to do something I'm not entirely sure how Pearce will get back in the team with Tate there now.
We were very solid tonight and apart from a mad 10 minutes when Lesta brought on Its A Knockout and Futacs, they were ****e. They may have Nugent out but likewise we didn't play McCormack. The work rate in the second half was immense, especially in midfield. We won that battle quite easy. Really pleased with what Thomas offers. Can't wait to see more of him when he's up to playing the full 90 every game. Defence looks like it's finally tightening and Peltier was superb in the second half. He gave then nothing.
Thomas is a great loan signing, pace and directness - adds an extra dimension to the attack. Imagine him and Gradel on the wings. Wouldn't that be lovely!
Josh, Pearce got himself out of the team. He's got to prove he's good enough to get back in. Unless there's an injury, or a 3CB formation, he'll be warming the bench on Saturday. Btw, forgot to mention that in the last 2 games our midfielders have been ghosting into the box. We look threatening again!
I agree he got himself out of the team by getting sent off but before that he has been our best CB. It does look more than likely he'll be warming the bench. On a separate note, I do like midfielders that do that. Thats what made Howson so good imo
A nice solid performance from Leeds tonight. Really took the game by the throat after an ideal start. The team played with some real cohesion, closing the ball down well. Thomas looked a real handful again and Diouf had a cracker. Sam continues to go from strength to strength-looks like Pelts could be in for a long stint at left back. On the subject of Pelts, he's not really caught my eye this season but he was really up for this one. We bossed the midfield for good stretches of the game. Before the usual dirty leeds comments are rolled out, I'd point out that Leicester conceded the most fouls so that doesn't really wash. Came under more pressure 2nd half with the introduction of Futacs and Knockaert. Futacs in particular caused issues with his aerial presence but Leicester really didn't click in the final third tonight. They're a strong team and will no doubt be there or thereabouts at the seasons end so all in all, a good result.
You must remember takeover is not complete until after Chelsea game, so people boycotting because of bates may still do so until then and indeed probably should. It doesn't help that he is still writing the program notes and doing his bulshit lutv interviews. While we're all delighted with recent progress and results, a lot of fans will remain sceptical until January is out of the way when we can assess transfers in and out and investment properly. You can't expect fans to forget eight years of bates crap in two weeks especially while he still has a voice, having a go at the manager and vetoing transfers
Terrible midweek crowd, maybe the bad weather kept many away or back to back home games costing too much for the average family. I fully accept people not going because of the expense however I agree with YWBK far too many people have claimed that they are staying away because of Bates and once the T/O has been sorted they will be back = bollocks.
Maybe I was a bit harsh on the people that stayed away last night but it is truly soul destroying seeing so many empty seats when Ive seen it rammed while we were in the prem I still believe that the people staying away will always have an excuse but I do think its overpriced, I tweeted the new chairman asking if Lufc would put offers in place to attract the stop outs back no reply as yet and I seem to have been banned again!!! Onto my fifth account now
I think you might be right there, Ristac, and I think they'll use the excuse at least until Bates leaves at the end of the season too. The takeover might have happened in December, but people will argue that Bates disgusts them & can't bear to support the club under his chairmanship.
