Top class, the breakfast would have to be scrambled egg on well buttered toast with thin smoked salmon strips dressed through it, followed by good dark roast coffee. Just writing that has got my mouth watering....

As for the racing have only had the one bet on Rossoff so far but am now joining in with Stick and Heisenburg's four shorties in trebles and a fourfold just for a little interest on a dull day. It's one of those fourfolds that on paper should be very straight forward, but on this ground anything can happen. As for the going i think by the look of your photo Pepito that Wetherby were a bit premeture in calling off tomorrows fixture.

De la Bach 5/1 each way 1.30 Lingfield

Trainer in red hot form. Only runs a couple today so they have to be backed. Excellent bumper third to Simonsig and a host of 130 rated horses. I refuse to believe we've seen it's best thus far over hurdles and it's got the best jockey in the race on its back.

Lingfield 3.00. I felt that maybe Peat The Feat could be beatable on this heavy going but try as I may, I can't find any logical reason why anything else would be any better off on the ground and given he is effectively in on 11.7 it makes it even more difficult to oppose him. Therefore it would seem that anything over even money would be a bonus.

One word of caution though. His 3 recent wins have come with top jockeys N Fehily and R Johnson up. He is ridden today by a 7lb claimer. He has been ridden by 3 different 3lb claimers and 2 different 5lb claimers and, so far in 10 races, has never won with a claimer on his back.

Whether he would have lost those races with a top jockey up I have no idea. Maybe this claimer is an exceptional horseman. With these questions unanswered it would be enough to keep my money in my pocket.

It could be worse for those backing him, he could have a dentist on his back....

Cheers boys. Seemed the value call.

Cantlow in the next at 2/1. Sure De Grugy ran well last time out but had a tough race whereas Cantlow is relatively fresh. Cantlow gets 7lbs from the favourite and can make that tell with the trainer obviously targeting this course as his record is excellent here. They're both basically as good as each other over hurdles so I think the weight differential and freshness factor may work in Cantlow's favour.

No racing for at least a month at the nearly all weather Southwell track. Most races being transferred to Wolverhampton and Lingfield.

PS. That is no horse racing. Boat racing is an option.
