Red Robin, Further to our discussion regarding how many fans truly want Delboy removed, I told you you were very much in a small minority and these polls back that up! http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/150415-who-wants-del-out/ This one is current! This one was taken a few weeks ago when we were very much bottom of the league. http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/149954-mcinnes/ 85 to 90 % still in support of Del. Perhaps we are not as fickle as I was beginning to suspect and the majority can see the wood through the trees after all..
One polls after a win,the second in 3-1 in favour of giving him longer. I have no agenda against Del,I believe the club should be higher up the table with the quality at his disposal. I have and still do question his tactics and team selections. He is aware the heat has been turned up from the top brass down to us fans. One win is great lets see if we can move forward with two very hard games against Brighton and Wolves. One thing I really have been impressed with is Del sgnings all very good. What you have to remember, is the fans on these forums are a small minority in the context of the fan base.
"What you have to remember, is the fans on these forums are a small minority in the context of the fan base" Forums tend to attract strongly opinionated people, I would suggest the wider fan base would be widely in line with these results. I am a member of the supporters club and I can tell you just because one mouthy git likes to get straight on the phone to Twentystone from there after every game slagging all and sundry, that the vast majority of supporters in there do NOT support those views. As I said previously I know very many City fans and whilst there has been some discontent, no one is calling for sackings as yet.. (the second one is 85% in favour of him staying despite the club being bottom at the time of the poll?)
Just a simple addition,we had a poll on here a few weeks ago (I can't be bothered to dig it out) it just said,'Sack him or Back him basically and over 90plus % voted in support of Derek McIness..Small but in total agreement with the info banksy has put up......Most of us want Delboy for our manager....
I think most along with myself are fed up with changing managers, which of course is down to the board in picking the right one in the first place! Contra to what everyone may think, I hope we continue on a unbeaten run and start to climb the table. (if this happens, honest I will hold my hands up and probably resign from this board, which should please most!........................I did say probably!!) If the poll is correct, I just hope it's not responsable for a place in League 1.
I've not visited this forum in a while, mainly due to a lack of internet usage in general but there's something comforting about coming back and seeing Red Robin make posts like these. Nice to see things don't change.
One for, Why would you resign from this board? I for one would hate to see that.. despite my total disagreement with your opinion I value your right to make it. this board would be very boring if everyone thought the same. You make some very valid points and some of them are very difficult to disagree with, Redprintt too. My support of Del is based on instinct only at the moment really, I just feel he could turn out to be a very good manager. I may be the one looking very foolish in the end. (but at least I wont be the only one ) Keep posting mate. its not a popularity contest..
Agree 100% Banksy, i don't always agree with the two afore mentioned, but at the end of the day we all have different opinions, like you i wouldn't like to see any posters leaving, just because we don't agree, so keep posting Onefor, you never know we may agree one day.
Come on lads we are all Bristol City fans, have been for all of our lives and will be until the end! If we all agreed what a boring world it would be and without constructive argument and debate, nothing would ever change. Just because opposing views to one's own are posted, that is not a reason to leave. My goodness we can't agree in the current post about City's greatest goalkeeper, let alone on our favourite strip or who should be playing in the team and which formation we should use. So nothing has changed since I was a kid going to Ashton Gate on a train (non corridor) with the same 9 adults from Filton every time. The air was filled with cigarette smoke and argument on the way there and even more on the way back if we lost. That was our "chat line" and this isn't any different except I don't have to breathe in anyone's smoke. We could do with more opinions not less.
I for one would hate to lose your imput, you just keep banging away and carry on creating the interest as you always have, most of us are pleased to have you with us,suprise,suprise...
Really appriciate that guys, but I get so frustrated when i get a bee in my bonet especially when I see the club I support struggling AGAIN. I know many felt that GJ had gone past his sell by date and maybe had lost SOME of the dressing room, but I still believe to this day that he would have avoided relegation the season he went and was ONE manager that should have been given a little more time. I would not have had so much of a problem had we sacked him with an established manager to take over and progress. Ok after Keef's reign of caretaker SL brought in Coppell and although I had a few doubts after listening to some of the Reading fans, I did think it was progressing in the right direction and that SL was serious.. But after Coppell walked out and SL decided to do the tax dodge, I believe it all went down hill. Bottled by SL whom went backwards by appointing Keef full time. I and a few others had the gut feeling this was the biggest mistake since SL took over BC and the great progress that the club had made was going to be ruined. IMO, Nieve & going for the CHEAP option. Hoping that SL would have learned by his mistakes, he again IMO, bottled it and opted for the cheap option, but even worse, into the unknown. In my eyes, an economic gamble with someone that had NO experience what so ever at this level, someone that did ok in one of the worst leagues in Europe. I know that's strong, but this moment in time, it's in a complete mess, financially & IMO 10 years behind the Championship & Premiership in terms of football. OK, Celtic had a mini bit of luck in Euros, but so did Yate in the FA Cup.....it sometimes happens on the night. But it proves a point, when they lose at home to Inverness, who lie 2nd in the Micky Mouse Scottish Premier....what a joke! Sorry, I don't dislike our manager, but I do believe that Del is a few years away from being a good manager at this level, but he will do nothing for us if we want to progress in the way SL & the rest of us wants. Even if and that's a big IF, we manage to scrape out of being relegated, I still won't get excited, I can only see another struggle looming it's way for us again next season.
I am not and never will be a happy clapper, you are right Del seems a decent guy is he the manager to take us forward at present, the gut feeling is no,to big a challenge in his fledgling career. Another tanking Saturday, when is it going to stop. I bang my head to it blue, this group of players is good enough for a top half finish. Why are we not in this situation, I blame the management team. Believe me many many fans think Del is not the right man, contrary to what some say on here.
"I bang my head to it blue, this group of players is good enough for a top half finish. Why are we not in this situation, I blame the management team. Believe me many many fans think Del is not the right man, contrary to what some say on here" Red Robin, At least onefor has the balls to say his piece and stick to it! you sway around like a coconut tree in a force 9 gale! its only weeks ago you were saying that you believed Delboy would take us all to the promised land, then you're back with the same rubbish after a loss to a top side! The side he put out last night was the one most fans were calling for! so what happened? manager **** up? and then its Why change a winning side? I'm gonna have to start searching a few of your beginning of the season quotes out I think!
Red Robin I think you need to read this thread you started, not a dig mate but when most of us believed Del was the correct man we was not getting over excited. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/164637-Those-silly-little-pundits-what-do-they-know As I said don't take this as a dig, but you do state an excellent management statement in there
"What do those silly little pundits know, Simply put if they think we are relagation fodder then Im Del boy in disguise" "We are on a long journey, with a excellent management team, and super squad of players." "I believe we are seeing the dawn of a new era at Bristol City FC" "I believe in what I have seen, and this squad is capable of a top six finish" All from the first paragraph of Red Robins post You didn't believe for very long did you!
Boys boys boys, Those points if im not mistaken guys I made after the demolition of Crystal Palace and Cardiff two fantastic performances, since then we have gone down and down to where we are now.
Any chance we could stop this thread now? It's a load of cock and its getting on my tits having to read Warnocks name each time. I'd much prefer Del than Warnock. Del's in for the long term hence the improvement to the youth team. Warnock is just after one final glory hunt before he retires.
