If he wins a trophy or gets to a final by playing good football and what you mentioned then he's done well at Norwich. Being a Spurs man he'd know the traditions at WHL. He seems to be growing into the Norwich job and I think he would at Spurs too.
?? Everton Drew with Norwich. Spurs have played Norwich twice this season, drawn one and lost one. Surely Everton are not that much better than Spurs?
Ordinarily I would have expected Spurs to beat Norwich Foggo but I don't really see your argument. Everton lost to Reading was it? They normally start badly and finish strongly but this time they've started strongly and for me are weakening. I just don't want Moyes at Spurs.
I like Hughton, especially the way he handles himself - in public, at least. As a manager? Possibly, but the jury's still out on him, for me.
He's a good man who has earned the right to be at a good club like Norwich, and as you say, he handles himself well in public. But he has had his time at Spurs, he served us well for many years and will always be 'one of us', but as a future Spurs manager, not for me thanks. No disrespect to either Chris or Norwich City, but I think they're well suited and at the right level for each other.
Hello again Spurs fans I find this last sentence quite odd, from this side of the fence at least, as it's a bit early to know what level either Norwich or Chris Hughton are. I am well aware we are regarded as a little fish in a small pond and not a serious threat to anyone, well not until we beat them . Last season just about everyone, media and non NCFC fans considered our level to be in the bottom 3 of the PL. Not even close with a 12th place finish. This season, although with a different approach, we are on course to repeat that sort of position, assuming all things remain equal of course. That would be quite an achievement for both the club in only the 2nd season back and CH for his first season in charge with a very tight budget. If that sort of level is maintained, and the budget increases (and it will, as we will have no external debt after May 2013) who is to say the next level cannot be reached, for example as Fulham do now, consistently in the top 10 for a number of years. All if's and but's of course but the point remains, it is too early to know what THE level is yet. If it is top half finishes I am sure Spurs would show a little more interest in CH, especially being a former idol for many
I don't think that SC meant any offence by it, TC. I took it to mean that you're both relatively new to the Premier League. Norwich have spent some time outside of the top flight in recent years and it can often be a very tough test to survive the second season, as a lot of sides get sussed out. Hughton's impressed as a manager so far, but he's pretty inexperienced and hasn't had a run with one side that's lasted two full campaigns yet. He comes across well in interviews and nobody seems to have a bad word to say about him, but he's still pretty green. There's nothing to stop Norwich or Chris Hughton from progressing, though and I'm sure that he'll have a warm welcome at the Lane every time he returns.
Certainly he will. I saw him play West Ham and he let out a screamer which hit the bar from 25 yards or so,seems some things never change as we did the same on Sunday. I like CH and if he is successful at Norwich he will be snapped up. I wish him well so that one day he'll be with us again. Oh,and I had his autograph, gush gush gush.
Norwich would need to do a Man City or a Chelsea to ever get over the barrier and be considered a 'big club' I remember that Norwich have had a third place finish in the PL and a history as a fighting cup team but were still referred to as 'Giant Killers'. It must make it sweeter for you when you win against clubs who are considered your 'betters' ThaiCanary. These perceptions are stuck in stone unless you buy your way in, then the media swallow it and bigs up the new kids on the block. I have Norfolk family connections so always have a soft spot for Norwich (except when they beat Spurs) Look at it this way, most older Spurs fans still think of Chelsea as the 3rd team in London despite the Russian mafiosi. Now they are big in Moscow!
Slight tangent but still a Chris Hughton story. About 12ish yrs ago I was holidaying in Portugal and got talking with another couple as you do, the bloke being a Spurs fan helped!, he commented on a shirt I wore one day, anyway, he told me was on Spurs books as a kid and it came down to him or Chris Hughton to be kept on. Don't suppose for one minute you'd remember a lad called Chris Smith would you SC?
Sorry if my comment came aross the wrong way ThaiCanary, I was talking in terms of Norwich and Hughton both being new to the PL. It's good to hear the club is on the up and there is much optimism around the place. I used to live and work in Norwich and know from those days that it is a decent and well run football club. .
When we visited Carrow Road earlier this year, Delia presented Harry with a cake she had baked for him. Bless him, he was chuffed to bits !!!
I firmly believe that Owen Coyle/Chris Hughton/Phil Brown/Steve Clarke/A N OthermanagerwhoseteamhashadanOKrunrecently is certainly a better manager than the inconsistent and unproven David Moyes. Yes.
Anyway I've just watched Arry's interview after the Sunderland match and I honestly wish him well. I hope he keeps Rangers up. Good luck Arry.
We will never be a big club and I seriously doubt any City fans believe otherwise. We may become a club that, as in the past, can challenge for cups and European places but not much more than that. I love when we take points from the big 6 or knock them out of the cups, especially on their own turf. The reason being is most from those top 6 still believe there have the right to win all their games against all teams in the bottom half of the league because they are a "big" club. Sorry Spurf, football has never been played on paper and it never will be A perfect example is our last two league games at WHL and the cup game, you guys on here were nearly in a state of trauma following all three games. A few were gracious enough to offer congratulations but the majority were head-shaking in disbelief that "little Norwich" had the balls to deprive the team of the points and a cup run. At least that is how it comes over with the ramblings on here Very unlikely to happen but as I can't predict the future, can say no more
