Bird wants to go on holiday there next year but which is the best to go to? Decent pubs selling real ales, a sandy beach, nice walks and a few good places to eat are all we require. For accomodation ideally a self-catering cottage that allows doggies. I know Mike's got previous.
Jersey in the channel islands is the most popular, most visitors stay in St. Helier. All over the island there are stunning beaches, and walks. Scenery is terrific. Lots of good restaurants in St. Helier, and visitor attractions all over the island, including a German underground hospital.
I've never been to Jersey (apart from the airport) but I'm not sure I'd recommend Guernsey for a holiday. It's pretty enough, there are some decent pubs with local ale and the beaches are nice etc - it's just very typically British and quite similar to other picturesque coastal towns on the mainland which are much easier to get to. I suppose you might want to do it once though, just so you can see with your own eyes what's there.
Cheers Truthseeker, so a few of the Bosch are still there in their bunker. Mike: I'm typically British! This will be exotic by our standards.
Guernsey is nice - my cousin stays there. If you want something different, there's always Sark. It doesn't have any cars on the island which chills it right out
Come to the Isle of Man, it's like a more working class version of Guernsey with good ol' Northern folke rather than ****y upper class Southerners. The difference between the two islands is a bit like the difference between north and south on a Game of Thrones.
If all these islands are full of ****s I'd better go without the bird as the island skirt must be begging for some hot cock action, cheers for the tip ER.
Only been to Guernsey a couple of times, but I'd imagine Jersey as a nice place for a holiday (but I've never experienced it from a tourist point of view). Good place for dogs is in the west of the island, the sand dunes, which are close to the beach too. I'd say the west is better generally, but then again I'm biased because that's where I'm from! St. Brelade's Bay has a few places to stay, not sure if there would be what you're looking for. There's good pathways around the north coast too, and bits of woodland dotted around.
