I would add Sunderland to that list, but that's about it. It will be a monumental turnaround if we stay up, but we must get behind the team now and give it a real go!
Gents, I'm just trying to rationalise things and agree it looks grim. But if I was HR I'd want to benchmark myself against 3 or 4 teams that we must finish above to ensure survival against all odds. It might be a floored logic, but I remember Blackburn, Bolton and Wolves all turning us over last season and yet when we did click and win, they seemed to lose or draw. I think there's a huge part that psychology plays and for the team to get that elusive three points, shower and then find that all three target teams have lost or drawn, gives renewed confidence. That's how I'd play it. Alternatively, HR could say its a foregone conclusion and get them to play for pride and hope for the best. I know which approach I'd adopt. Football's a funny old game, and I for one think that there will be a few more twists and turns.
We are only a third of the way through the season so of course we have plenty of reason to hope. Arry and his lot have got to sort us out at set pieces for a start, and get us finding the target at the other end, then he has January to bring in the CB's and strikers we need. TF should have got rid Hughes earlier to give Arry more time, but it is not too late.
Reading are the only ones dangerously lacking in quality. Unfortunately TF has left it very late, perhaps too late.
You guys have clearly been burnt to badly this season and are concided to relegation. When the real fact of the matter is you DONT need to get 40 points to stay in this league....so people working the mathmatical formulas are just creating unneccisary stress on themselves. We are 6 points away from getting out the relegation zone, with 75 points to play for....if you cant see that with a change of fortune and a new manager we can turn this round then I feel sorry for you. Hughes was a horrendous manager and has made it difficult, but I am 100% confident, that come February we will start to look safe. Enough of this, we need to win half our games to stay up.....Reading and Southampton wont get anywhere near 40 points.....all we need to do is be better with 3 other teams and with Harry in charge and that waster Hughes gone I believe we can do so. Feel free to bring this up if we get relegated.
You have loads of time yet A new manager normally spells the start of a good run, if you even win the next 2, and there's a good chance of that happening. You will be talking about pushing up towards mid-table.
(Nothing like stating the obvious but) You beat us on Tuesday and you have every chance of catching us. If we win, 4 wins ahead and none in 13 looks a bit to much as we should be capable of getting another 5/6 wins. You will need at least 9/10 wins from 25 games Do you think that will happen? Me neither! Hughes, as stated has done the damage. If HR keeps you up he should get £10m
Well Southampton certainly got the job done today for 3 pts, as did Wigan yesterday, and everyone else mentioned down there picked up a point, apart from Reading & Sunderland, and now Newcastle who are now somewhat drawn into the relegation mix. Right our survival looks like a very steep hill to climb. Only one place but up though!
I cant see you honestly moving from where you are right now, its all about who will join you going down and that can be anyone not in the top 6 or 7....
Here you guys if you haven't got it already the link to the old BBC site prem predictor tool which is still up and running, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor/default.stm for the record I still had us in the bottom 3 upto end of December.
yes including us but highly unlikely dont you think.. Where are you going to get the points from not to be in the bottom three....Harry is not god as we all know and on just 4points and rooted to the bottom then you are going to have to beat some big sides and hope others go on a big loosing run...How likely is that to happen....loads of work to do that is to much looking at the fixture list....
There you go again. Why are you on our board stalker? Cols told you umpteen times and I will tell you again ... **** off! You wum. You're not wanted on here.
