Really irritates me that Allen was called up for that, but at the end of the first half Gerrard and Suarez were fouled several times and the ref waved play on. Not to say it wasn't a foul on PH, it was.
We were unlucky not to have scored first half, game petered out second half. Good point for you in the end.
Bad point for both teams in the end. Neither team showed enough quality to deserve a win - especially in the second half.
That's the worst defensive display iv seen from us in a long time. Constantly giving the ball away, couldn't make simple 5 yard passes, getting caught in possession and out of position on far to many occasions. The fact that we kept a clean sheet just goes to show how poor a team Liverpool are. Any half decent side would have put about 4 on us today.
Fair result in fairness, neither side we're able to make clear cut chances. We weren't particularly impressive today in particular in the attacking third. We really lacked making any kind of meaningful penetration with the exception of Hernandez who pretty fantastic today, De Guzman had a poor game, really disrupted some good moves we had. I felt so much better when Aguestian came on to replace him. Hernandez constantly gave the Liverpool defence a lot of trouble, I think its becoming ****ing obvious he's going to be key player this season. This does highlight the need of new striker. Defensively we were okish. Too much last ditch defending in the first half though I thought we were a lot better defensively in the second half, with Tremmel in particular not trembling. He had a very good game. And you can't complain about getting a clean sheet. I never thought I would ever say but Glen Johnson was Liverpool's most threatening player. I thought he was possessed by the spirit of ****ing Cafu.
I'm happy. A well needed clean sheet. Liverpool failed to score against us again. That's 1 goal we've conceded to them in four matches. I'm just glad it's over. I felt I haven't wanted to lose a game this much since we were up against Cardiff. Exhausting. Plus we are up to 8th now.
I think too many of our players just didnt really do themselves justice today. Schechter was anonymous sadly and Michu didnt really look any better to me playing 9 instead of 10, dunno if anyone saw that differently? JDG had a poor game, seemed to just need too long on the ball. This is gonna be unpopular because this board seems to be fairly pro-Rangel. I respect the service he's given us and the effort he continues to put in at the top level, but if i were ML, i'd be looking for a right back in January and i've felt like that for a long time. He's ok going forward but i don't think he's good enough defensively to play 35 league games a season for a mid-table premiership side and i think he's often very wasteful in possession. Today i thought he had a poor game and other than a couple of neat interceptions and, to his credit, a good, important block on suarez towards the end of the first half, i felt we was disappointing and whilst i have a lot of faith in whichever left back is playing next season, be it Taylor or Davies, i have precious little in Rangel. Ki made a positive enough impact for us, glad to see him back, would be happy to see him start in midweek. A point at home, but i think that game was plenty winnable had we turned up, bit of a tame performance at times
You have summed it up perfect stereo. Too many fans and probably players didnt want ot lose it, that showed in our edgy midfield display, not like us at all, i think this game was a banana skin for our fans who were getting unbelivably cocky in the run up, im glad its over as well and we can be thankful for the point which actually takes us up to 8th place at the moment.
Well below our usual standard, but good enough to stop Liverpool doing anything, draw was fair result, as both teams offered very little!...........
A fair result in an uninspiring game. Many bad points for me included Johnson winning headers from two of their corners - not the tallest, is he? And Ki. Yes, Ki! Had a sound game otherwise but lost the ball TWICE faffing about around our box and let Liverpool in. A more clinical team might have scored from those basic mistakes. When will our players learn that you only play football IN THE RIGHT AREAS OF THE PITCH! I think young Ben is going to be a really good player but there are glaring weaknesses in his game right now about which I won't go into detail at the moment. We are starting to miss what Taylor gives us there. Fair enough, Ben is on a learning curve but I would like to see what Tiendalli can do in a match situation although he would need a run of games to get up to match fitness. Schechter can go in January as far as I'm concerned. He had a chance to throw himself into the game today to try and make an impression for future selection. What I saw was a player ambling about and making no particular effort to get involved. Show ponies we do not want and he was rightly subbed. All the outfield players are deserving of some criticism because none of them really performed but, what totally enrages me, is when our players are so easily brushed off the ball in a tussle for it. The glaring example was when Michu lost out to little Sterling, of all people, on our right flank in the second half. For me, we don't show enough bite and urgency throughout the team, the sort of bite that last season's Norwich had and what Southampton showed last week against QPR. It's as though we believe that we are above that sort of thing and it's a bad trait to have. Every successful team, no matter how much football they play, have a bit of steel in them. Chelsea and the two Manchesters have it but look at what has happened to Arsenal in recent years when the hard guard departed for one reason or another. Still, the good news is that we notched another point towards our target against a decent team who now stay below us, so well done for that. But our need for a decent striker is becoming more obvious by the game. We are robbing Michu of his effectiveness by playing him up front and he has said that HE DOESN'T LIKE PLAYING THERE. We'll have a disgruntled player on our hands if we are not careful. And, while we are shopping, more cover in defence please and a midfield destroyer would help.
this game was always going to be full of errors due to the nature of the game, Im happy with a draw in the end and the player who got us the point was Tremmell......He has been very good since he took over and he could well get more games this season and i would not complain about that...
