I hope the people that made the complaint take it philosophically rather than just going ape.

This gratuitous playing of the race card was inevitable.

With every incident whether real or imagined, getting investigated and taken seriously, there is real scope for mischief-makers to take the piss.

Particularly worrying is that 'game abandoned for racist chanting' clause that some hardliners want.

You're losing 3-0 away, getting played off the park?

Simply pretend you heard a racist chant or shout, walk off and the game is cancelled.

    A recipe for disaster.

What was he supposed to have said ?
I understand it was something along the lines of "I don't give a monkeys" when questioned about one of his decisions
that didn't go in Chelseas favour !

Nobody knows, because Mikel who he was talking to has said all along he didn't hear anything. The complaint was made by Ramires who also said he didn't hear what was said but felt he had to complain because of how Mikel seemed to react to what ever was said.

Chelsea decided to forward it to the FA despite the fact that only one of their players out of four who were interviewed (Ramires) claimed to have heard anything abusive? I'm sorry but they were totally taking the p**s.

I really cannot believe he's got away with this, it's ludicrous. Even more proof if any were needed of how bullet proof and protected referees are, if this was a player he'd be fined and banned. It's about time referees actually earned the respect they demand.

Mikkel has a face that you want to punch, no doubt somebody will oblige sooner or later. Don't think a lot of his teammates like him either from little things I've seen during games. I knew Clattenburg would not have racially abused him, this kind of behaviour is reserved for the morons/ neanderthals/Terrys of the world

He might not be right on this occasion but he does have a point, there was no way the FA would charge a referee for something like this. The fact they refused to help the police says it all. Referee's are free to do and say as they like. They should record the referee's mic's, it would solve everything, there would be transparency on the decisions they make in the games, it would avoid incidents like this and it would enable the FA to charge players that over step the mark when abusing the referee.

I'm probably falling for a wind-up reading your post as I can't believe anyone can still be on Chelsea's side.

Apparently, Ramires thought he heard Clattenburg use the word "monkey" towards Jon Obi Mikel.

Mikel never heard it and neither did anyone else at all, despite the fact they were all closer to Clattenburg than Ramires.

Also, Ramires has a very poor grasp of English.

The FA have given Ramires the benefit of the doubt that he genuinely "thought" he had heard the word monkey.

I think they were being generous and that it was a malicious attempt at revenge on the referee for his decisions.

i must have missed the bit where the police asked the fa to help and the fa declined. i assumed the fact that there the weight of evidence was against the charge had more to do with it. it was eff all to do with the poilice anyway.

as the microphone stuff is now going to be recorded, it's high time professional players were sent off for using the kind of language and behaviour that would see amateur players rec carded in an instant.

Bollocks, the FA didn't refuse to help the police, the police took one look at it and saw it for the crock of **** it was and decided not to investigate.
