RULES

Choose your driver pairing(s) before the deadline.

1. Choose a tier (your first is free)
2. Choose your '+' driver from that tier
3. Choose a '–' driver from the same tier
4. Players from round 19 who do not pick a new driver pairing or buy any add-ons will have their choices from the US carried over to Brazil
5. The points scored by your '–' driver will be subtracted from the points scored by your '+' driver to give you your score for the race
6. If you have enough points you may use them to 'buy' a second tier (20 pts each)
6b. If you have more than enough points you may use them to 'buy' a rather smart points booster (see Add-ons thread for info)

TIERS

Tier 1
Red Bull: Vettel / Webber
Ferrari: Alonso / Massa
McLaren: Button / Hamilton

Tier 2
Lotus: Raikkonen / Grosjean
Mercedes: Schumacher / Rosberg
Sauber: Kobayashi / Perez

Tier 3
Force India: di Resta / Hulkenberg
Williams: Maldonado / Senna
Toro Rosso: Ricciardo / Vergne

Tier 4
Marussia: Glock / Pic
Caterham: Kovalainen / Petrov
HRT: de la Rosa / Karthikeyan

Black member names indicate driver pairings carried over from previous race.
✻ indicates driver pairings that will qualify for Drudeboy's Wheel-to-Wheel Battle.
(J) indicates that player has used his joker to allow a late selection.

HOW DRIVERS SCORE POINTS

please log in to view this image

NB. 'Qualifying' points allocations take post-qualifying penalties into account and are therefore based on race start positions. For example, if Massa qualifies in 4th place but receives a five place grid penalty then points will be allocated based on his race start position of 9th. There is therefore a double hit for drivers who receive a penalty resulting from a stewards inquiry. Time penalties: 2 points docked from score and potentially a lower race finish. Grid penalties: 3 points docked from score at current race and a grid drop at the following race.

Right. Time to press every button and pull out all the stops… (Costings listed are for me to be able to keep tabs on what I'm doing this time!)

Existing contract from Tier 4: +Kovalainen -Karthikeyan
KERS (-15pts)

Extra drivers from Tier 2: +Räikkönen -Kobayashi (-20pts)
KERS (-15pts)

Extra drivers from Tier 1: +Hamilton -Massa (-20pts)
KERS (-15pts)

Extra drivers from Tier 3: +Maldonado -Vergne (-20pts)

Mercedes engine (-15pts)
1 Safety Car (-5pts)

Total cost (calculating in my head so please forgive any error, Genji! [There's bound to be at least one])
=125pts (gulp…)
- - -o0o- - -

Genji: a massive Thankyou!
Having just done this really highlights what a mammoth task you undertook in providing the forum with the most intriguing game. –And this is before the whole weekend's calculation for each F1 driver and forum member! Just how you have kept track of everything all season is beyond me.

I wish all participants luck for this coming weekend.

Erm, little confused on how it costs 29 points cosi. It costs 10 points x the amount of races number of races completed; did you buy it 2.9 races into the season?

Aah… you see? I did make a mistake, RR!! – but you've mentioned it before Genji; for which you have my utmost gratitude. Thankyou.

As you may have guessed, I thought the cost was quite a good deal. I thought it was 10 points plus 1 pt per completed race! I will go back and edit my error by removing it! Once again: thankyou.

OK boys, I think I've got all that. Check your selections in the OP, please, and if you do make any changes like RoadRunner did it would be helpful if you could add a post to let me know I need to check your earlier selection. <ok> It's not imperative because I can add anything I miss later on, it'll just save me posting results that don't reflect the actual selections.

A Renault engine and two safety cars as well please Genji.

While im here its probably a good time to thank our host. Must have been a nightmare to run something this complex and i think its a great game. Cheers Genji

Based on qualifying, I'm actually reasonably happy. Based on sketchy working out in my head I should have a slight advantage, but that Hamilton/Massa pairing of cosicaves is worrying. Our 3 midfield/backmarker pairs should cancel out, my Renault engine may be a bit more fruitful, but Hamilton/Massa may compensate. This is quite tense, but you've done awesome genji to make it so <ok>

Well that was a race to stay out of. Falling somewhere between damage control and disaster recovery, for only the second time this season (I think) the players who came out best were those who left their driver selections in place some time ago:

CONGRATULATIONS
to

H A P P Y A L
&
MASANARI

Race Results:

please log in to view this image

And the driver breakdown:

please log in to view this image

As you can see, the +/– stalwarts who gambled much on the final race mostly came a cropper with spectacularly bad results as cosicave picked up the record worst score (-124) dropping him from 2nd to 4th in the final standings, and Miggins and Julius Caesar came not far behind with -73 and -82 respectively. Miggins dropped out of the prize positions and Julius Caesar dropped to the arse end of the table. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

But - good or bad - all those results will be forgotten, overshadowed by the final championship outcome with softly, softly WestCoastBoogaloo and the chopping & changing RoadRunner nicely limiting the damage to their campaigns. The final, overall victor, then, of the inaugural +/– championship is...

R O A D R U N N E R
(A.K.A. The Real di Resta)

Well done Roadster. Here is your more or less final (still awaiting the Best Overtake result from Sportydan's Blistering Brazilian Awards although it won't change the results) championship table (including Pick-a-Champ, which went to DHC, happyal and me):

please log in to view this image

please log in to view this image

And here's the prize-giving ceremony (remember, the top six in the table are awarded points to be used from the first race of 2013):

please log in to view this image

And finally, as scant consolation for cosicave, who headed the table for most of the season only to fall near the end, here's Mad Bernie's Medal Table:

please log in to view this image

And that, as they say, is that, I think... pending correction of any mistakes I may have made...

Thanks for all your gracious comments and I hope you enjoyed it. <ok>

Hahaha! Fantastic game, Genji. - Thanks once again.
Congratulations to a most deserving winner, previously known as RoadRunner.

As for my own dismal performance towards the end of the season, it must rank right up there with the real real di Resta…

Awesome work Genji, absolutely awesome. I'm amazed by how much hard work and effort you've put into this, a great game.

I'm amazed I've managed to launch this kind of comeback. I think I was about 100 or so points behind four races ago, so to come away with this is fantastic!!! <party>

Commiserations to Westy and cosicave who lead the majority of this season. What a great tussle it was right to the end <applause>

I think you may have made a mistake actually genji, with my score. You've added my top 2 tiers together (equals -3) but I should have lost an extra 40 points with my third tier.

Ha ha that didn't go very well. Of the 4 i picked 2 of them crashed in the first corner and kimi got lost <laugh> Even Kovi-Karth gave me a negative score.

I shall claim to the death it was a last ditch effort to win the 5 wooden spoon bonus points. (actually do i win them since the guys below only did about three races?)
