Nigel likes us to pass it about, just like barcelona and im pretty sure barcelona would win the championship
Got to agree with ADkins in the games we have passed the ball we play well. Stop passing the ball & the problems start. Don't think we have passed the ball enough in some games. We have the players to do it but they haven't all been used at the same time. Some games we have just had to dig & play the ugly stuff
JOE LEWIS are you kidding, have you seen the mistakes he's made. i'd play tommy forecast over JOE LEWIS!
I think you've gone a bit OTT there. You're forgetting that players such as Harding & Butterfield have played hundreds of games at Championship level and players such as Barnard, Guly & Hammond have settled into the team brilliantly and have all improved under Nigel. 5 at the most signings but 8 is excessive, that's nearly a whole new team.
Bit harsh don't you think. Seems you don't rate many of the 20 plus squad players that we have. Several will surprise us I'm sure. If not Cortese is going to have to have very deep pockets in your opinion. Lets give the squad a chance to prove themselves
I doubt that Nigel views a new goalkeeper as a priority. KD's had a good season and I don't know what everyone else is watching.
....................Davis/Bart....................... Richardson...Fonte..New....Dickson/harding Oxo..........Morgon....New........Lallana ...............Lambert...New................ Thats what i think we definitely need, although i wouldn't mind another keeper and another winger, maybe a right back. In the new spaces i'd love to have Jack Cork in midfield and CMS up top. James Beattie anyone??
Evolution rather than revolution is the sustainable answer to getting to the Prem and having a fighting chance of staying there. There are still 3 years of the 5 year plan left - that's 3 years of CCC to get the balance right. Players can afford to make mistakes and learn from them - a strategy that will give us an awesome team spirit and save us a heck of a lot of money to boot! So many big money regimes don't have the patience to carry out a long-term plan, but I'm really optimistic about what we are doing.
K Davis/Bart Harding/Dickson Fonte *New CB* Butters/Richardson Oxo Morgan *New Cm* Lallana Lambert *New St* *New CB-Halford(don't shoot me,I heard that he is quite a good championship player) why not give Aaron Martin a go?I think we should put Llyod Foot in the squad/team as he's supposed to be a great prospect fo the future. *CM-I can't think of any at the moment *St- CM-S of course and I think that Sam Hoskins(academy) deserves a chance he's had a blisterring season at U18's level why not give him a go?After all that's Cortese's vision to bring youngsters through the ranks. If they are good enough give them a go.AB20
I like all the ideas for new signings but what about what we already have. Who is the new chambo, lallana, Bale, walcott? Could James Ward-Prowse, Jack Stephens or Harrison Reed come in and give Asene Wenger a trouser movement???** **But beware Arsene, I think there is a street in London where it is still legal to shoot a frenchman on sight...
Do we want to be mid table or do we want to go up into the Premiership? I still stand by my evaluation of our current squad. Some may have played in the Championship before are they the ones to get us up?
I'd like to see Bart given more of a chance. And I think we'll only make 2 or 3 signings, this talk of 8 signings is preposterous! And as someone (lost your name) said, I'd like to see lallana play in behind the striker(s) and not out on the left (although he has been amazing out there), have a couple (inc. Oxo) of pacey boys on the wings.
Don't understand this mad obsession with loads of new signings just because we going to be in the Championship next season. The majority of the first team squad have played at Championship on a regular basis before. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, just give a slight tweak here and there. Twenty clean sheets (or however many it is) shows that the defence and goalie (voted the best in League One) are a pretty formidable unit already.
Most of the current team in my opinion would do an ok job in the Championship, For us to do a 'Norwich' or 'Leeds' I suggest adding Neil Danns and Jack Cork to the midfield and CMS to the strike force. Of course Davis makes some mistakes, but he will still be one of the best 'stoppers' in the division. Jaidi, as one previous poster has pointed out, isn't getting any younger! Few are! Aaron Martin could be ready for the step up. It's going to be exciting!
There seems to be mixed feeling about Davis.......If memory serves.......He is on a three year contract that runs out next year. So at a guess he will be our no one for the start of the season!! Jaidi is on a two year deal that runs out this year. Connolly is on a year on pay as you play contract. There are couple of other contracts up this year I am certain, Martin is another.
We are a good side with team spirit. It would be a mistake to disturb the squad too much. I'm sure NA would like a few players that he could fit seamlessly into the side. Jaidi may find he's only offered a one year contract. Still wondering what situation is with Stephens.
Everyone seems very quick to dismiss Dean Hammond. He may not be the best technically, but he puts himself about and does a very good job of captaining the side if performances are anything to go by. Chaplow is also proven in the CCC. We also have Gobern, Robinson and Ward-Prowse on the brink if we don't get Stephens
