yeah but you changed the spelling of the title?! I had done caps on each word lol

OK pal have Donated.......Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Have also put a sticky on it......At a guess that would be what you wanted?

    Hi guys,

Just relaying some news you may or may not have heard.

Started through SaintsWeb, the fans have come up with an idea to give money towards a fund to buy a nice - BIG memorial flag. Unfortunately hopes were hit by the prices, but not now.

In the last half-hour Nicola Cortese has said he will pay the difference between the amound raised and the price of the flag "if necessary" and told the organiser JustMike to "go for the biggest tribute possible". We hope to have it in time for the first home game of next season.

As a result the flag will be 20m x 15m.

Here is the chosen flag design:

    Thanks,

P.S. I am not the organiser, just drumming up some more awareness and a brief update as I don't think JustMike can be found on here.

And where might Nicola Cortese have agreed to pay anything...?

if you don't mind me/us asking, how much is the total cost for the flag? then we could gauge how far off our donations are. Also you say it will be used at the first home game next season. Will that be the only occasion? because I think it would be fitting to use the 'crowd surfer' at every home game?

I agree... If your forking out over a grand for a flag then surely it has to come out more than once!

    To answer your questions:

    1. Cortese issued his response in an email, as well as agreements with the Operations Director at St. Mary's and such Re: bringing it in and protecting it from being pulled down.
    2. It would be used on appropriate occasions - not just the once, it would be decided well in advance, games such as last game of season, first game of another. Although another suggestion was auctioning it off, however this is now unlikely due to the sheer size of it.
    3. The total cost would be £6,000 - so far we have amassed £1,303 in about 5 days, and we would need plenty of notice for the flag makers, so mid summer we would need to have totalled a fair amount before re-notifying Mr. Cortese.

Any more Q's - just ask.

    Hope that helped.

I don't know if it's possible and apologies if it's already been mentioned but what about a bucket collection on Saturday. Even if only half of the crowd give a quid it will be sorted. Donated anyway.

20m wide? That's probably less than the width of one of the St Mary's blocks? It's quite big, but I'm really surprised its costing £6,000.

I think this is roughly what it would look like at St Mary's...

I'm sorry but if we're going to raise £6,000, couldn't we get something a bit bigger.

Perhaps it could be done as a patchwork quilt, them each doing one small square whilst having a natter during the game. Maybe the seats could be modified to include a tapestry stand. <laugh>
