I thought Spence was more of a centre-back? Could be wrong there though.

Give Bart a chance and maybe make him number one with Davis as experienced back-up. If Nigel doesn't think the Bartman can do it on a regular basis then we need another keeper.

Martin has always looked like a really good prospect.

Lallana I would love to see operating behind the front two with two really quick wide men. So a good left winger and one that loves working.

A Hammond replacement would need to be athletic and less prone to making wild tackles. Gobern perhaps as he has improved since making that dreadful flying drop kick, and has begun to look like a player. A younger Connolly who can help create and score would be the icing on the cake.CMS maybe as he seems more than capable of joining in with the play as well as being prolific in front of goal.

Why change the team when there is such excellent team spirit.

The only positions we need to sort out are:
RB - Butterfield or Richardson would be very good as cover. Butterfield isn't getting any younger. Richardson could maybe do a job for us.
CB - I think most people agree that Jaidi isn't getting any younger so we need another defender that is similar to Fonte (good aerial ability and pacy at the back, good at tackling)
Winger (maybe) - most probably for the bench as Chambo and Lallana are both more than good enough for the Championship, but we need support, especially when we have unexpected injuries with them like recently
Striker - Connolly should get offered a 'pay-as-you-play' deal based on recent performances. Also depending on Lee Barnard's court case which looks very bad...

    Your thoughts?

Don't think anything too drastic needs doing:

A CB to replace Jaidi, who doesn't have the legs to keep up. Could be a promising young player if Adkins thinks Martin or Seaborne can step up to the plate.

Dale Stephens or similar. A midfielder with a bit of vision and ball playing ability

A winger. We can't rely on Holmes to be fit and Puncheon will be loaned/sold. Forte is a useful impact player who will score a few goals, but he's pretty useless on the ball. Someone to keep Lallana and Chamberlain on their toes and to offer something fresh if one of them is having a tough day.

A striker, 2 if Barnard is in the nick. David Nugent and Craig Mackail-Smith are both out of contract and unlikely to be re-signed. Conolly is in great shape for a player of his age but injuries are a problem for him.

I hear good things about some of the young lads. We'll see in pre-season if any of them can play a part.

I'm pretty confident in what we have ATM. Norwich, Leeds and Millwall have made few changes to their promotion-winning sides and all of them are finishing in the top half. Are we really much different to any of them?

    --------------------Davis----------------------
    --Butters/new RB--Fonte--New CB-----Harding--
    --Oxo------Schneiderlin--Jack Cork---Lallana---
    ------------Lambert----Barnard---------------

Subs: Bart, Seaborne/Jaidi/Dickson, Hammond, Forte, Connolly/new striker, New Winger(Loan)/Guly, Chaplow.

Dropping either Lambert or Barnard would take the piss, they've been fantastic all season and I have full faith in them making the step-up. Despite this, we really need one more striker like Craig Mackail Smith or Danny Graham who will score goals. Our squad is fantastic and should be utilised throughout the season. The rest of my preferred team is fairly self-explanatory.

Davis is rubbish. We want to play like barcelona then we need a better goalkeeper as his distribution is awful.

His distribution might be awful but he's probably saved us at least 6/7 points this season which will make the difference.

Play like Barcelona? No we want to play Football that's effective for the Championship and wins games.

Agree with you St brendy we are pretty much there. with the squad we have and a few select additions.

I can't see us splashing the cash personally & the current squad should all be given a chance to prove themselves.
Adkins will know who can step up to the task. Think there will be few released this week as well.

Goalies looking good with Kelvin & Bart as back up
Keep Richardson / Butts Fonte Seaborne/Jaidi Harding / Dickson.
Seaborne has looked good lately ( Bristol Rovers/ Hartlepool & should be given the chance of pairing alongside Fonte.
Plus keep Jaidi for one more season as seasoned pro. Bring in a new CB maybe 20+ but we have some good youth defenders coming through.
Would like a left & right footed Midfielder to add to the names mentioned Plus Puncheon
Keep Connolly again for his wisdom. Plus another younger 20+ striker realeased from a prem club maybe.

Think we have the boys to do well as our team this year has been growing.

I don't know who we will buy for next season but in my opinion the only players we have who are going to get us out of the Championship are:

    Kelvin

    Jose

    Alex, Morgan, Adam

    Rickie

All the rest are only good enough as fringe players. On that basis I think we need at least 5 but more like 8 new signings.
