So give that Zamora is gone for three months (see article on link)...does that mean we are resigned to Cisse upfront on his own with Mackie, Hoilett, Taraabt et al supporting? Not what we need at a time when we REALLY need goals...

There has been a lot on here about what line ups people would use, and quite a few have included Zamora...so what now?

Can Hughes play himself? He's the same age as most our strikers isn't he ......may be worth his wage after all...?

I would be pleased to see Mackie up from, with his determination to somehow get the ball back in the net. He's a scramble expert ;)

Hoilett can go up front if needed. But largely, we'll be using Cissé.

It's a shame we don't have Danny ****tu anymore!

We can also use any youth player but that's just desperation.

Even worse, wasn't Hulse left out of the 25 man squad so that you could have about 8 wide players in it instead though?

Cisse, Hoilett and Mackie could all play up front, supported by Taarabt. Personally, I don't think we're short of players up front: I think we're short of form and, also, the system has been wrong. If Hughes wants to play with a target man, as I said at the time, he should never have got rid of HH who was effective last season and is doing well this season, albeit in the NPC.

I also droned on loudly and at length over the summer that we needed a top centre back and I still think that's our biggest problem. Confidence is low throughout the team and shipping lots of goals, early and repeatedly, undermines that confidence. I'm a great believer in building from the back. Hughes clearly isn't. He can't even organise our defence at corners and, on the evidence of the Southampton game, isn't bothered about having someone on the half way line to stop the ball going straight back into our penalty area when we clear it.

Hulse was left out of the 25 man squad because he's crap!

Not true. Left out cos Hughes thought AJ was a better option. I think Hughes actually rated the hulsinator

Anyway I'd go with hogan and cisse up front. Hogan has pace enough to destroy rio and he can finish. Then throw mackie on with 20 to go to skin them

Give Mackie a go. We know what we'll get and their back 4 aren't water tight this year.

Play to our strengths (assuming a massive blip last Saturday) and pack the midfield full of youth and quality.

Guess you can stick a laugh icon on your comment if you want but do you not think there might be a small clause somewhere that stops Fabio playing on Saturday bearing in mind who were playing!!!

Exactly and my ahem favourite hasnt seen a single minute of game time. Its just one of many baffling decisions Hughes has made. The same could be said for loaning DJ and selling HH.

Betty went on tour when many other out of favour players stayed back, only to be left out.

Away to Man U it's got to be Cisse as a 1 up with DH/AT/Mackie behind.
