QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes Says ‘Confident’ Can Sort Problems
By Barry Porter and Susan Li -Tony Fernandes, chairman of Queens Park Rangers Football Club, said he was “confident” he can turn things around at the English soccer club which has failed to win a league game this season.

“I’ve been in worse situations before,” Fernandes said in an interview with Bloomberg TV in Kuala Lumpur. “Let’s wait and see. We remain confident that things can be sorted.”

Fernandes declined to comment on the fate of the club’s manager Mark Hughes.

Do not turn on TF. The root of the problem is the stubbornness of MH.

The incompetence of MH on the pitch is matched by TF off the pitch.
Don't be taken in by the Tones a nice bloke pitch. I want an owner who runs the club well not someone who goes in the springbok and queen Adelaide as a publicity stunt on match days.

What's TF done that makes him so deserving of the good owner tag? Wasted a load of money on substandard players so far. Played a giant commercial game of chase the ace.
    Much else?

Say what you want about T&C , laid out plan , executed plan , sold up.
We got promoted and they brought us success yet are roundly hated. TF is taking the club no where but down yet is widely loved.

Personally I don't get it. But it's just my opinion.

He's been in worse situations before? When?? He's only been in the game for just over a year.

    Good post.

However, as a Chairman he has given full backing to what MH has wanted, in terms of players, resultant salaries & backroom staff. He has stuck with him throughout. He has raised the profile of QPR across the board and has introduced some real business quality in the guise of Phil Beard.

The issue, as a businessman, is when to pull the plug on your manager. I think he's very very close to doing that. If Hughes had any dignity, he'd walk.

It is this stubbornness that is ruining QPR at the moment. At the training ground or on the pitch, and in all of his interviews he refuses to change or admit he's the one at fault. This should be the focus; I believe we will soon see why TF is a successful businessman.

My comment has been born out of frustration of seeing Rafa now going to Chelsea .............. what next, Harry going on a European vacation to Ukraine ................ and we get left with Mr Personality in MH, to finish us off. The guy is about as inviting as a fart in an elevator.
Time for Tony to talk turkey.

'68. As with any good argument there are never all rights and wrongs. TF has done some good stuff.

Think where he's messed up. Contracts. Too many people on too expensive and too long contracts and its put us in a perilous position.

I just feel that the Tones a good bloke is a skewing factor and I actually feel this is part of the problem.
We need a hard leader as an owner not someone who wants to be popular and everyone's mate which is what I feel TF is trying to do
I hope I'm wrong but I just remember how popular Chris Wright was at first.

To be perfectly honest, I am starting to question Fernandes myself. Hate Hughes and what he is doing to our club, but TF is becoming a part of the crime in that he has not fired the Taffia yet. I so hope that I am wrong and that TF grows some before it is too late (I fear that it already is BTW).

CCJ my views on Tone have been consistent all the way along. I'm not turning on him. I'm really not clear on what it is we are currently trying to achieve at the club other than a few sound bites about Global Brand etc.
