If you want to watch a race on Racing UK but you don't subscribe, there may be a pub near you showing Racing UK. To locate your nearest "Racing UK" Pub see here

although i've registered on racingUK that's really useful, thanks ron. i punched in my postcode and there's one a mile away and i never knew they showed the racing in there. i'm not surprised though actually, it's in a street lined with bookies

I didn't know that. It certainly wasn't the case where I came from. In fact there wasn't one pub with a bookies anywhere near.

    Quite right Ron.

Since I emigrated to Belfast I can tell you that Cutters Wharf,my local, doesn't have a bookies within 1 mile...nearest Laddies on the Ormeau Road

The Botanic and the Eglantine Inn's..huge bars and very popular don't have a bookies within a 30 min walk.

The Point and Horatio Todd's,not to mention The Four Wind's,all need a taxi to reach a bookies and there are many more such isolated popular hostelries over here.

Eddie you must be very well appointed.

maybe its just glasgow then, you dont see a pub here that isny either attached to a bookies or within spitting distance

I would have thought it would be the same in all citys, bookies actively try to be as close to pubs as possible for obvious reasons

there's no bookies next to any of my local pubs. the one the map there found is a snooker club i've only been in a couple of times and it was always football on. it's on the street with the bookies i walked past and decided against putting a fiver on voy por ustedes. then i went back to work, tried to watch the race, got interrupted several times, got back to the race and he'd won.

years ago there used to be a fantastic snooker club at the end of the main road for post office employees and we went in there to play snooker but it was in the back room, all wood floor and dark. you had to put 50p in a machine to make the light come on. i was good at pool but a snooker table is so long and i was so short by the time the cue ball got the the other end it was in a different country. and my word, so many 50ps and the light went off so many times we finished the game in the dark  fun times.

    sorry, gone off topic

Betting Licenses in NI are hard to attain since most people over here live in the old testament...the Health Minister is a creationist ffs..nuff said.

Bookies don't open on a Sunday and protests were held by hymn singing fundamentalists when Downpatrick held it's first Sunday meeting and even when Tesco opened on a Sunday in Bangor.

Like the American bible belt...f*****g morons living in in fear of/hope of fire and brimstone.

    Twats.

I went to Presbury Village near Manchester for a weekend recently and there was no betting shop..plenty of range rovers nad padded jackets mind you.

Most of us can bet via phone but I love the tactile exchange of notes through the perspex hole!

Fire and brimstone, too true. Reincarnation of the old Wesleyan movement? Had a basin of those American born-again Christians once when an engineer colleague of mine suddenly, and without warning, yelled at the top of his voice "I am a Christian!" Only problem was that we were standing in the middle of the Dubai Hilton's main lobby. Thank goodness, the Arabs, the hotel staff, and everyone else, thought he was bonkers; he really was.
