At the moment there are 4 kinds of players in our team.

    1. Players who are willing to give their all and have great character (e.g. Mackie)

    2. Players who care but who's confidence is very low right now (e.g. Faurlin)

    3. Players who care but are frustrated and fed up (e.g. Traore)

    4. Players who don't give a toss (e.g. Bosingwa)

In the case of Faurlin, you have to decide whether its better to have a player of lower quality but is willing to do all it takes, a player who is frustrated but might pick up if things go well in the game or a player of great ability but doesn't seem bothered.

This is why I am kind of inclined to choose Derry over Faurlin at the moment. I know Faurlin cares but Derry does too and he's generally a more confident player who will be raring for a game.

At this point we should not be picking anyone in the fourth category, those who simply don't give a toss. We should also look to play players from the first category, hoping that they will pick up the morale or confidence of those in category 2 and 3.

    I hope that makes sense!

What do you all recon? What categories would you put them into?

A little bit pessimistic, I see! But there are plenty of players in our squad that other teams would like to have, even knowing their level of input and enthusiasm.

But some players really are here only on past reputation.

Is this because he has no idea what his right foot is for? Worst left back I have ever seen can't understand why so many people rate this sulker??

He is an immature player. But I believe his performances had been getting better and would have continued to do so if things were going right but he obviously doesn't have that strong a character at this stage of his life.

He doesn't have a right foot but he has a good left one! It's the same as Faurlin. Traore's defending ability has increased but if he doesn't have the motivation, we will see his lesser performances.

I think as the time goes by with Hughes in charge we'll get more of 3. and 4.

Like others, I'd put Nelson in the first category. I'd put Granero in group 2 or maybe even 3. Zamora would be in group 3 for me. But, looking at our general opinions it seems like most of our players care but only a few have the character to get out there and fight with all they have. A good percentage of them are struggling and only a small few or couple don't care at all. In fact, I'd even say that SWP is part of group 2.

So, we don't have enough strong characters at the moment and instead have a bunch of players who will only be on top of things when the going is good. Now, we let the people from group one come forward and raise up the detirmination of the others.

I can't think of anyone that would get it so far. But if Adel carries on maybe he'll get it. Anyway, different parts of the season have different personalities to come to the forefront so we shall see as the season goes on.
