Blackburn did not win in ther first 13 games and stayed up in the late nineties. which means we have to win against man u or Sunderland both away. can't see it happening. mark Hughes got it right when he said we wont be fighting for survival this time next year. there will be no fight as we will already be down :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I still harbour a small glimmer of hope. We were in a better position this time last season but the next 4 months were dire. We didn't beat Liverpool until 21 March. There is still time, if we make the right decisions.

It looks like we would need 1.5 points per game...just to get 40 points!.....we r furked!

It's not quite as bad as that 1.3 points per game would take you to 38.which would most likely be enough. You need an equal ratio of wins, draws and defeats.

I still hold a shred of hope for our survival although there is no confidence in our team at the moment, we have only been completely outclassed and beaten twice in my opinion (Swansea and Southampton). In our other games I think small individual decisions, not taking chances, lapses in defensive duties (quite a few) and absense of any luck (Arsenal) have cost us taking points here and there have greatly contributed to our predicament. It's not like we turn up every week and get whipped....though that could happen Saturday if we defend like we did on Saturday we need 4 Nelson's at United!

At the moment we need 1.38 per game to get to 40 points. But if you look at the table now signs are clear that likelihood is that you wont need 40 points.

Even so I think it is achievable if you split the season into 2 half’s. 6 games left this half of the season. Target wins against Villa (home) Fulham (home) Wigan away.Plus 2 points out of Newcastle, Sunderland and United away. Would give us 15 points at half way point.

25 points from midway point onwards is in my opinion still achievable if we get a new manager, a proper centre back, galvanise a team spirit and send the likes of Bosingwa to train with the kids.

Those three games against Villa, Fulham and Wigan are the key and hopefully we will get a new manager bounce in form right in time for them.

I have heard it on good authority that Paddy Power have contacted scientists and mathematicians at CERN to help them successfully calculate the odds of an away win at OT this weekend.

Not sure i understand this but why are we targetting wins against those teams?
We havent managed to win against anyone yet so not sure that we can see any game as a winnable fixture TBH?

I agree its do-able, but from what we've seen so far, it aint very likely !
Think there's a massive air of over confidence around the club at the moment and needs a new man to sort it out. IMHO

Sensible post. apart from first half against west ham, Swansea and soton we've been quite decent for long periods of games. It's only last weeks performance where we were **** for a full 90. Still not looking forward to Saturday.

Prem had 22 to start with in 92-93, then down to 20 in 94-95, Bob. And it looks like 95-96 is when they started poorly but went on to 6th with Roy Hodgson. We went down that year.........
