Sorry guys naive OP, just desperate not to lose again. Agreed most of the players have not earned our support this season but we're damned if we do, damned if we dont it seems.
Frome I agree with the point you were making, get behind the club etc but for me Saturday should be about showing TF and the board that we want Hughes out and underperforming players dropped. A vocal performance from the lads at the countries top venue on TV will reinforce the message especially if its another abject performance
Don't be sorry Frome as the OP is correct we all need to support the club at this time. Some players have not pulled their weight but i won't not support the R's when they next play. We do have players that want to play for QPR and we need to support them because if we don't we will be letting them down. Couldn't care less for the 'Money grabbers' but the ones that are playing need our support.
Sorry, I can't stand the thought of us trying to be this years Blackburn - **** team, **** manager yes, but unlike them we do not have **** owners or **** fans. Could never go to a match with the intention of making it harder for my team.
You misunderstand me SB, I'm not going to join in the singing for Bosingwa or SWP but I'll back the players who perform. No problem with that at all. And no I won't be releasing a cockerel or squirrell onto the pitch...
I hope fans don't give the players and Gaffa a hard time from the outset at United as that will achieve nothing. There is a possibility we may play better without the pressure and tension of playing at home. However if they give another Southampton performance then they deserve to know what the fans think of them. Also I am struggling to understand the constant abuse many of our players and board members are receiving on twitter achieves nothing I understand we are all so frustrated the way things are going but constructive criticism is one thingm, abuse is another.
The best way to show both our support and frustration is to loudly cheer on the players that we generally feel have made an effort and earned our support, Mackie, Taraabt et al. Rather than boo those that have failed us, if they put in a good effort, recognise it and give them a cheer. Those that still can't be arsed should then be met with a deft silence from the R's faithful. This would send a message to all of the players & shareholders (and watching millions) that we as supporters value their effort, otherwise they should shape up or ship out !! As they say "silence is golden".
Christ it's starting to sound like we're supporting a bunch of under 7s in some junior league. They're grown men ffs, they should be hard as nuts. If they play badly give them stick.
Am I missing something here......Saturday was supposed to be a must win game. That meant it was the managers job to get this through to the players, get them up for it and put out a team that would give our best performance of the season and prove their theory that it was just bad luck that had us at the bottom of the table.....We didn't win it. But we didn't just lose...we were humiliated, embarrassed, outclassed and shown up in all departments.....the must win game was an absolute disaster.......3 days later nothings changed......I bet the players and manager can't believe their luck that they have got away with this......what motivation will they have now to perform any better? If no action is taken after that it never will be....what will they get for a 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford?...an extra lap round the pitch in training maybe?
At the moment there are 4 kinds of players in our team. 1. Players who are willing to give their all and have great character (e.g. Mackie) 2. Players who care but who's confidence is very low right now (e.g. Faurlin) 3. Players who care but are frustrated and fed up (e.g. Traore) 4. Players who don't give a toss (e.g. Bosingwa) In the case of Faurlin, you have to decide whether its better to have a player of lower quality but is willing to do all it takes, a player who is frustrated but might pick up if things go well in the game or a player of great ability but doesn't seem bothered. This is why I am kind of inclined to choose Derry over Faurlin at the moment. I know Faurlin cares but Derry does too and he's generally a more confident player who will be raring for a game. At this point we should not be picking anyone in the fourth category, those who simply don't give a toss. We should also look to play players from the first category, hoping that they will pick up the morale or confidence of those in category 2 and 3. I hope that makes sense! I MADE A THREAD OUT OF THIS POST. PLEASE REPLY THERE INSTEAD!
This. If we barrack certain members of the team (or the manager) during the game, do you think it will make them play better? Is slagging them off on Twitter or on Saturday going to improve their attitude? We should be creating a virtuous circle: we cheer all of them on, they play better, we cheer them even harder, they play even better. Surprise, surprise, not all pro footballers have the hide of a rhino: like many of us, they want to be loved. We've got to be positive: we don't want to create a negative, siege mentality within the squad. Like or loathe it, the majority of this group of players are going to get us our of trouble or take us down. Let's help them achieve the former.
Richard Langley said the other day that when he was targeted with bad heckling, it really used to put him off and make him feel negative. He said it used to make him worry about the next time he had to control the ball.
Yes, good post. I'm convinced something will happen over the next three games without fan revolt - we'll either win a game or two, or, more likely, get a new manager. I also think we'll see a reasonable performance from the team at OT, even if its to impress the unknown new manager.
If these players can't be bothered under Hughes, they won't be bothered under another manager! If Hughes picked 11 random people from this forum 1 person would put in more effort/workrate than the 11 out there on Saturday. Time to bring in the U21's (Harriman, Ehmer, etc.) - at least they'd play for the club and not the money.
I think some of the players' indolence comes from frustration at the manager's continually odd tactics. Sticking Granero on the wing? Bizarre marking when defending corners? A properly organised and motivated side of these players can achieve, I do believe it. We may have too many mercurial performers and not enough true grit (like Nelsen). A good team has a balance of the two
I agree with this Rodney. It is totally counter-productive to jeer your own team. Cheer them on through thick and thin. Same with the Manager during the game.
I don't see why playing Granero right side of midfield is such a bad idea- he ought to be able to get in decent crosses from there which we been missing. I agree his performances there haven't been good though, maybe Hughes hasn't got him onside with the move or maybe Granero like most of our players is way off his best.
