I think this will be his defining moment with QPR fans. If he gets rid of MH now and appoints a successor who keeps us up then he will be seen as a savvy Chairman who stepped up to the plate when faced with a difficult position. If he sacks and appoints a successor who fails to keep us up then some will jump on the "should have stuck with MH" bandwagon, whilst others will still be harking back the the fact that if TF had stuck with Warnock we would still be fine, but either way TF will lose some respect from the more fickle element of the club's support. If he sticks with MH and we go down then the TICC brigade will have a field day and the Warnock supporters will still be saying "I told you so". So all in all, I am glad I am not Tony Fernandes. In fact, knowing how the abused always kick downwards, I am glad I am not Phil Beard!
Completely agree with this. Fernandes is not to blame at all here. Completely let down by Hughes and has paid a lot of money to help our club establish ourselves in the top flight. Just think of where we would be now had Fernandes not taken over from Tango & Cash.
4String (something not quite right with that name??) anyway I wish I was TF as I would pull the trigger immediately and try to protect my investment. Inaction is the worst of all options. What is Tony's measure for Hughes to stay on? Beat Man U at OT? Unlikely. Put in a better showing? Again surely that should be a given? I don't see the point in more time. Forget the Man U game and focus on Sunderland away. We've never won away under Hughes, based on current performances does anyone think that will now change overnight?
Utter rubbish. he put his money in and supported the manager. Even now when most want MH out he is keeping calm and will make the right decision. We don't know how lucky we are to have TF and comments like this only make us sound spoilt. Rubbish comment.
Please do not take this as a wum post, it is a serious question. Are you certain TF is not to blame at all? The reason question this is.... Have ALL the signings made by Mark Hughes actually Mark Hughes targets or has he been told to target players from certain regions in the world in the cause of creating the 'global brand'?
When I read this first, quite quickly, I thought it was referring to Anton, and I was going to agree wholeheartedly with it! I think TF knows what he's doing and has his timescale for action. I would say that he is a man who likes to have all his domino's in place before he leans on the first one, that's why he runs such a successful airline. Time will tell...
No TF isn't completely blameless. He's made plenty of mistakes. His lack of experience in football is really starting to show and it's come back to bite him (and us).
Yes, TF has put in the investment, but he sacked the good Manager we had way too quickly, and is keeping the one he brought in way, way too long.
I've added an Avatar mate to try and make more sense of my user name. A "4 Stringer" is what guitarists often refer to us bass players as, usually not meant as a compliant, but we are reclaiming it!
This is my point. No excuse for not getting rid of Hughes after Saturday's shambolic performance. We have reached the end of the road with Hughes.
Fair enough point Thaicanary and thanks for your comments. The only player who I can think you are referring to is, Park. He only cost £2m. Compared to the outlay on other players, that's not very much spent. We have probably recouped that money twice over on shirt sales to Korean tourists. Are there any other players you are thinking of?
All non UK based players signed by MH that I can think of, off the top of my head are Ryan Nelsen, Esteban Granero, Djibril Cissé, Samba Diakité, Caesar & Park It's not the money aspect that would concern me in your shoes, but the scatter gun approach to recruitment of players from lots of different nations. Under normal circumstances I would not question a high(ish) number of foreign players but as TF has made so much noise about the 'global brand image' since taking over the reigns I cannot help but think he, to some extent, is having a say as to who should be signed. Hence the question - how do you know for certain that board room interference in the transfers is not playing a part in what is going on this season? This might also go some way to explain why he is giving MH a longer rope to hang himself with and some of the burden of responsibility may well lay with TF. It's only a theory perhaps but I don't think it is completely impossible that it may have some truth in it.
Public backing of MH, giving him too much power, use of social media to put us under the limelight, belittling fans who don't agree with him, too much emphasis on 'branding' before we've even achieved success on the pitch...which leads me to the next one...Park Ji Sung, wasting half a month pre season by using the club to promote his airline, failure to sack MH (mistake yet to be confirmed)....I'm out of breath. Just listing the areas which I've criticised him in the past 3 months. I keep hearing that he's the best thing that's happened to the club but in 6 months time, we could very well be in a worse position than before he took over.....oh except we may have a new training ground.
